I'm glad I found this forum after buying my first SH! Haven't ridden in a few years, and got lucky enough to find a nice used Superhawk so I could get back out there. Can't figure out how to post pics from my Android phone, but will do so once I figure it out. The information I've found on here so far has been awesome, and I look forward to finding more as its needed.

Welcome jlhamm, I've only been here (and on www.vtr1000.org ? Portal) for a few months myself. Any questions, just ask away!

After you've done some reading here, you'll be wondering about your camchain tensioners, these seem to be the bike's main achilles heel, but it's not a hard job to put manual tensioners in and remove the worry.

It's actually had the manually CCTs put in it already, along with newer R/R, so luckily don't have to worry about those. Next on the list is chain and sprockets, which are on their way. Should be here this week. The PO put a 14/45 sprocket set on it, so to say the least it's a little low geared. Haha. Can't wait to get the 15/43 on it.

Yikes that is short gearing; should make it very easy to get the front wheel airborne in 1st!

Good to hear that your bike is already future-proofed with the MCCT and R/R. The only other bother I've had with mine is the vacuum diaphragm in the fuel petcock, which stopped working properly so fuel was leaking out through the carbs when the engine was off. Cheap to fix though.

It'll definitely pull up easily in first, but runs out gear way too quickly. Hopefully the new gearing will make it more useful(like almost every thread on here says it will). I'm planning to tear in to the carbs soon too, so I can check what jets it has in it. The PO said it had a jet kit put in it, along with Yosh Carbon exhaust, but it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't sure up correctly.

Welcome! I'm new here as well. I have owned my SH for about three weeks now, bought it on this site. Love the bike!
