New to this site.
I went to the Bonneville Salt Flats this past summer and got salt fever.
When I got back home to Phoenix AZ , I figured I better start looking for bike to run for 2020.
Ended up with a 2003 SuperHawk (blue) with 7600 miles completely stock.
The plan is to run production class . So I’ve been reading all the stuff about my bike here.
I will post pictures soon.
Any salt flat racers on the forum ? Also looking for Hawk owners in Phoenix area.

Welcome I'be been to the salt but never run.
There is some discussion among local friends at building a vintage twin to run...if I'll help build it and ride it........have not yet decided... only one event locally to test at and that is once a year, and only a standing mile event.. Not sure I can do this justice...so not yet gone all in on the idea.

Welcome aboard.
Did you find the bike on craigslist? I think it was in Glendale or Peoria. I was looking for one for a friend and there was a low mileage bone stock 2003. It looked like it had a bent brake lever, is that the bike?

Welcome! Ive never raced my 00' but at even 40k miles its a tank and super reliable. I take it out for a few hundred miles at a time it seems.
Just need a new fuel reserve sensor and it will be all working again.

Welcome to the forum. Streaking on the flats is fun! I've never run Bonneville , but I've done El Mirage several times. The first thing you need to do is Join the SCTA and attend a New Rider Orientation. Then it's "Go" time. After you pass tech inspection, your first runs are limited to 149mph (if I remember right). After you qualify, you can go as fast as you want!
You'll have to wear full leathers and install a steering damper. Then you'll learn the little tricks, i.e.; removal of mirrors and signals is good for about 1.5-2 mph. running just enough race gas to make the run and return is good for another .5 mph. On a stocker, gearing and jetting is critical. Alt. is just under 3k ft. My best runs were running just under the rev limiter in 6th at the speed traps. Most stockers won't pull 6th to the limiter, so gear accordingly.
I'll try to find my old timing slips to verify, but I think my best run was 158.1.. mph. The first couple of runs were spooky on a soft surface. When you couple that with the narrow contact patch (due to centrifugal force at that speed)
Good luck and fly!

Yep
It’s in nice shape.

Yes I plan on doing El Mirage.
It should be a good experience.
I plan on running production class.
Being a x roadracer im ok with the race preparation , but the speed deal Im sure I have a lot to learn.
