My new toy!

My new toy!
These are a few pics of my new toy, a '73 CL350. I picked it up for a song and managed to run it after fresh oil and a new battery. She's a blast to ride, upright and neutral steering, except that she falls into corners very easily and I've surprised myself. Easy on the eyes too... well I'm not sure about the snakeskin motif but it's definitely grown on me! Anyway, it has plenty of problems, most pressing a serious oil leak (1 cup a week), and I'm sure there's more to follow. On the upside, I've already purchased sprockets and chain which were cheap compared to the Hawk, and it's taken me to work regularly the last two weeks (admittedly very slowly). So, sorry I know this isn't really SH related but I thought some members might dig the pics. Oh, with this new bike came a search for the proper forum which in turn made me realize (again) how good this particular forum is, and while I'm not a regular poster I'm a regular reader and this forum kicks ***. But any members interested in vintage Hondas or other appropriate UJM stuff with a suggestion of a good forum please let me know.

very cool, I also am into vintage honda's, I am always eying craigslist for bikes like your cl 350, nice find and I love the cl's exhaust pipes, very nice. I have looked for a good vintage forum also but have come up dry. Good luck with the fix and keep us posted.

Cool. I've always liked the CL350s, not that many at all found their way to us in New Zealand. A friend had a box-tank one that I lusted after in the late 60s.
I'm sort of into old Hondas myself - the garage holds a '61 C102 stepthru, a '64 CB77 Supersports (also called Superhawk, which is kinda fun), a '74 XL250, a '77 CB400/4, and an '82 CB1100F, the last being a dedicated Historic race bike.

My first bike was a CL350 I got when I was a senior at Lynchburg College. Actually this was my first legal form of transportation. Loved that bike!
Too bad the cam chain broke in less than 9 months. Spent all my meager cash at a local dealer trying to get if fixed. They hosed me & I never got it running again. Sold it in the winter of that same year to an appliance repairman who had come in to fix the heater; so hopefully it was brought back to life.

Nice bike man.....I've got a 70 cb350 and a 71 I'm working on now trying for a cafe racer look. I really like the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Owners Group forum...lot's and lot's of 350 talk on the Honda section. It's amazing how much fun you can have w/ 32 horsepower, and people wade through Harley's and Ducati's to look at my old heap!

Thanks guys! great pic Jim TT! I'm pretty stoked on the aesthetics of the bike, love the pipes of course. I would have preferred a OEM paint job but the blue snake-skin is growing on me and seems genuinely authentic for mid '70's customs (not that I would know, born in 1980. ha-ha!). It's pretty cool to have a bike that's 7 years older then me and takes me to work. You guys are right about the brakes though, pure garbage. Thanks for the forum suggestion JohnnyP

Very nice. My father inlaw has a 1972 CL 350. It was passed down to him by his father inlaw who bought it new. He told me to keep a spot open next to the VTR for when he passes it on to me.

That looks really nice. The headlight is playing "spot the possums" or squirrels or whatever you guys have over there.
A bit of spit and polish around the rear hub and sprocket and she would be perfect

This is my first love, 1979 CB650. I love riding the old school, it never stops turning heads, but like somebody said, a totally different ride from the hawk. My wife will ride on the old Honda, but I have to beg her to ride on the SH.
