Mr Stupid Can't Open the Seat...

Okay, SO.... There's a cover on the passenger pillion, there's apparently some kind of space under the seat, and there's a lock on the back of the tail... My powers of deduction tell me that those three things may be related!

But how? I have turned the lock and pried on the seat and the cover, but nothing happens... This kind of reminds me of the hidden gas cap on a VMax.

How do I open this thing???

Lots of wiggling of the seat help, although the key might not be pulling the cable far enough to release the latch holding the seat. All that takes is a piece of hangar inserted, snatched around said cable and tugged, you should be able to lift the seat high enough to peer in and see it - it's toward the back.

While the key is turned, I grab the seat on the left front at the gas tank and pull straight back towards the key. It's kind of like Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

Thumbs up

Turn key.
With left hand lift and hold rear of cowl/seat.
Simultaneously place palm of right hand flat on rider's seat, press down and push toward back of bike in a continuous motion.

Or buy a Sargent.

Thumper is an unknown quantity at this point
Once you get the seat off, take a hammer and bang the two mounting brackets that are part of the frame forward just a tick and you will never have a problem again.
