Most miles in one day?

Just curious to see who rode the most miles in one day.

The most miles I rode in 1 day was last summer: Left Key West, FL at 6:00am. Rode through the everglades and up rt 75. Took a 2 hr nap in Tampa. Settled for the night at a Walmart parking lot in Cordele, GA at 1:30am. Traveled 785 mi. Overall, my entire body was a bit sore, but not as bad as one would think. I credit that ride to my corbin seat, thumb cruise control, custom bar risers, an ipod with 4000 songs, and to my Pirrelli Strata tires. Was a crazy day, but would do it again in a heartbeat!

Ride on!

1008 miles by GPS. Went around lake michigan with some additional miles to close out the iron butt ride. Second most, 900.

Sure I'm not setting any records but my best is probably back in college-just under 800 in 24 hrs on a Harley fatboy. It was a rental and the guy almost fell over when he looked at the odometer when I returned it.

820miles, from Idaho Falls, ID to Prescott AZ. We did 4,500 miles in 10 days... yes, on the VTR.

The 1008 was in 20 hours, the 900 was in 13hours. Guess which one sucked more? Wrong, the 1008. It was cold, with a low of 28 and high of 45F.

Most miles I've ridden in 24 hrs. was 1300 on a Norton 750 Commando.

Rode a Yamaha TX-500 1000-1200 miles straight on four separate occasions.

Most I've ever put on my VTR is about 450 in a day. That was enough. I'm not a kid anymore.

Haha for real, after a few hours I used to be ready for a break, that's really impressive.

Yeah I told him "what? you said unlimited mileage!" Did some huge smoking burnouts for dessert right before I brought it back too Have some old pics somewhere-I think I've posted 'em here before.

There was a lot of slow and go on that trip (PCH) which was much more painful than the last day run (820). When you've got the wind blast at 75-80 it really makes forward riding postition a lot more comfortable. Plus, I cheated... Helibars, Sargent seat, Throttlemiesters, Zero Gravity DB. Also, I refused have anything on my back, i.e. back pack, hydration pack. I put the hydration pack in my tank bag as it's an essential to have on any long summer trip, dehydration sucks.

I am running all stock riding position, only have a throttle lock. As for the long day, I only had a tank bag. Ran with my legs on the passenger pegs, ala Doggy Style. Works well. The "shorter" day was with a full pack (saddles, full tail, sleeping bag, tent, tank bag, gps). There was only one position, luckily speed limits were high, so very little wear and tear.

That's way funny $hit, major props for that

Back in "the day" I ran afew 24hr rallys. Highest mileage was just under 1400. Most of the miles were 2 lane twisties (about 80%).

best freeway run (70% freeway) was 994mi in 16hrs, lunch and dinner included Thought about riding around a little to hit the 1k mark, but it was raining and the hotel bar and hot tub were calling.

I know alot of folks who have "Iron Butt" certificates, but most do them on the longggg straight desert roads out here and in Nevada. Really boring

Most I've done in one day was 600, but I'm looking at an Iron-butt in the not too distant future. I've got the rest of the parts on the way to do a superbike-bar conversion on the 954 triples (with additional risers to clear the Scotts damper). It should be A LOT better than the 'mounted below the gullwing triple and they're too short and angled wrong to boot' TL clipons I'm running right now...

Cleveland to Kansas City in 24 hrs in '78 after I got out of the Coast Guard.
That was on a XS 650 that was set up like a short tracker, 750 kit and all.
Miss that bike....

Can you say "Fuel Cell" ? unless you are talking just a 1k, then you'll be fine depending on the route. Here out west it's still not unusual to go over 150miles with no gas stations, when you do the scenic roads.

Still looking at grafting a VTR tank bottom onto the VFR tank in the garage (so it won't leak anymore) and reinstalling it. Amazing what that one more gallon can do for range!

The 1300 miler was Minnesota to Philly. Rained hard the last 400 miles. I found I could stay mostly dry if I drafted semi trucks about 25 ft. off their rear bumper. Near the end I had to avoid looking to the side 'cause there were ghosts in the trees pointing their fingers at me. Ha Ha! I did a lot of crazy things when I was a kid. Don't tell me I'm lucky to be alive. I know that already.

San Jose CA to Bellevue WA sometime around January 8 or 9 years ago in one sitting. I had a thousand yard stare for two days after that, never going that far again without a break! Between the cold, wind, rain and iciness around OR that was a hell of a trip.

Albany to Norfolk via rt 81 ~ 650miles in 13 hours on a '77 Honda 400 supersport! Arrived at my buddies house with no incidents. Next morning he tells me there is no helmet law in VA. I ride 3 blocks up the street to pick up the newspaper and get pulled over... He was wrong.

This is great. I'm glad to hear there are other enthusiasts out there that enjoy torturing thier bodies just to ride that extra mile. I thought my 785 was good... not even close to some of you guys.

I know that I need to step it up a notch, 1000 isn't enough anymore, I need to do a 1500 to get up to the top on a superhawk!

I'd expect nothing less from a man with 104,000 plus posts, but the haircut did make me laugh out loud!

1,080 miles on the Superhawk in a day. Stock seat. Ow my ***. All that for a damn license plate frame.

I started questioning my sanity at 2am after 12 hours of straight riding minus short gas stops... the only thing keeping me awake was the pouring rain and water spraying off the big rigs requiring lots of concentration to see.
