Lookin for a hawk
Hey all, im lookin for some good info on superhawks. I just sold my old bike, and have been looking at buying a superhawk. Figure i can get that v-twin feel without the price of a ducati. Anyway, was hopeing i could get some info on good years for the bike, or if there was a year i should avoid, how many miles are too much, ext. Also if anyone has one for sale in AZ area i would definately be interested. thx for the help

The only changes in the US bikes were in '02, when they got a digital speedo with clock and fuel level guage. Other than that it's really all down to color preference and aftermarket goodies.

120,000km on my 99VTR.
Haven't even had to adjust the valves.
Straight out of the can, the bike needs suspension (RT springs and a good shock) and brake (Braided lines, better brake pads) upgrades.
A set of aftermarket slipons (LeoVince or Jardine) brings out the rruummmmble.
HeliBars and a Sargent Saddle for creature comforts.
Maintneance issues include:
CamChain tensioners - replce the OEM with APE tensioners
Earlier modles (98/99) had Regulator/rectifier problems.
Grin & GO.
A most excellent ride!

I dunno if CO is too far to get a bike, but there's one on ebay right now with LOTS and LOTS of great mods. I don't believe the 114hp, especially a mile high, but the guy definitely did things right. It's a 98, red, with lower, and Jardines. Do a search.
