Late Starter, next?

I came into the SH family in September with the purchase of a Canadian spec. '98 one owner with 29k well maintained easy miles on it. Came with Yosh. pipes. I did all the forum suggested inspections and calibrations, etc. the CCT change (following the UK procedure) replaced most all the suspension, wheel and steering stem bearings just for kicks. Calibrated the TPS, jetted and synched the carbs. Installed SS lines throughout (clutch too) LOVE THE BIKE!
P.S. Painted it Yellow (I read here that it was the fastest color)!
Next; I've decided to install a Factory Pro shift kit and, while the clutch cover is off, was thinking about a 4 deg Ignition advancer but, I'm reading a lot of conflicting information on their performance advantages. Has anyone out there in SH land done a dyno test with an advancer or are there just opinions?

thetophatflash is an unknown quantity at this point
I installed both years ago and was very satisfied with the changes. The advancer gives a better pull from a stop as did the TPS adj. The shifter works much smoother.

I e been thinking about installing one as well, I just don't know we're to buy it from anyone? I heard it improves bottom end response and fuel consumption.

It's no longer manufactured.. I even wrote FP and asked about a new run.. No dice.

So you have to find a used one, or New Old Stock sitting on someones shelf.

If you do a goggle search with the part number, you will find it listed on hundreds of online sites, all out of stock,,, and when you call they say it's no longer available

I had that problem a few months ago. Had a couple of defferent vendors actually sell me one and one even shipped the kit only to have it be a cbr600rr kit. Some people's kids, man.

Good luck. I certainly didn't have any.

I wouldn't suggest it. I've never been happy with mine, the next time I have my clutch cover off I'll be changing back to stock advance. The advancer gives more midrange at the expense of top end - exactly the opposite of what the VTR needs!

Oh I just couldn't find the shift kit. Never felt an advance was worth it based off of the general consensus here...
