KTM Duke II

I just bought a 2003 Duke II with 341kms on it. The guy's dad bought it for him and he never rode it. A mechanic friend has stored it for him for the past 6 years. Changed the oil yearly and ran it a couple times a year. He also has a 2000 RC51, #34 off the line with 7000kms. Keeping the VTR as it is still the greatest bike around but this will be nice for tooling around the twisties and the daily commute.

I had a guy offer to trade me his Duke II for the Hawk and I just couldn't pull the trigger. They are interesting bikes for sure and look like fun.

When I was researching them I ran across this site. Some good info on the bike if you're interested http://www.teamincomplete.com/Projec...keiiintro.html

That was the first site I saw as well. I've got a KTM dealer near my son's university that claims they can get 60 RWHP with jetting and intake mods only. The pic in the article is the same as mine, orange and black. I'll post some pics when I pick it up tomorrow.

I'll ask about the RC but he almost decked his buddy for putting the CRF450 too close to it when he was moving stuff around. Wife told me only one new bike for me. It would be a tough choice if he offered up the RC for a reasonable amount.

Here are some pics. The RC is for sale but it is mint and he knows what it could be worth to the right person. He won't let it go cheap. The Duke is a blast. 50hp but light and can it ever dive into corners. I can't wait to get somewhere like Deals.

Hows the vibration on the duke? I've seen some complaints of that about them. I like them a lot and think I could probably be perfectly happy with one.

It vibrates a lot until you get going. I find it vibrates a bit more than the hawk but the bars are properly weighted and you don't get the hand or foot buzz you would expect. The seat is surprisingly comfortable. I don't think I could go on a long tour on it. Wind is pretty harsh at highway speeds.

Katooms in general vibrate a lot (I've heard). All I do is ride in town, to the gym, occasionally to work. A Duke or similar would be perfect IMO.
The SH is overkill for me, as sweet as it is.
I"ve got an old XR350 that's completely rebuilt and I have a Baja Designs kit to make it street legal and another set of rims with street tires mounted. (but sKINNY!)
It will likely be fine and fun for what I actually DO ride and not what I dream of riding.
