I'm a happy pappa
After searching long and hard for an 03 or 05 SH, I finally agreed to buy a members 03 last night. I have a few questions if anyone could help...
Has anyone had any experience with member DR Destructo from Indiana? I spoke to him several times over the phone and he seems to be a very nice honest guy. I guess I am just looking to reassure myself in dealing with him.
Is there anything I should look out for when I go to pick-up the bike, that could break the deal for me? Problem areas on the 03 bike? It has 3k miles on it.
I am sure I will have many questions in the near future and I will try to do searches before asking questions that already have many posts/threads.
Thanks and by the way I am located in the NW suburbs of Chicago, so I wouldn't mind meeting up with local riders at some point....after the foot of snow leaves us that is........

Good luck with the sale....
In general, if it hasn't been dropped hard, and it starts, its shoudl be good to go...these bikes are really pretty solid....
Only two things you MIGHT have issue with are the CCT's (cam chain tensioners) and the R/R (Rectifier).... neither of thsoe are items you can "check" on.... seom people ahve had issues with them, others not... do some searches on the site if you're curious about those items...
Good luck.

Congrats! The '03 should have the updated (finned for better cooling) R/R like my '02 does so that should be less of a concern. With the low mileage indicating not much use you may need to give the carbs a cleaning if it runs rough or has idle issues - other than that its a real nice machine.

Thanks everyone,
I'm pretty happy right now. A friend of mine had a 1998 (bought it new) and I loved it. I had more fun riding that bike than any other street bike Ive been on. I was considering an FZ1 and the new Bandit. I test rode a new Bandit and really liked it. I didn't like the handlebar position or bend, but thats easily changed. It had power everywhere and I think it's a real nice bike.....but....I wasn't real excited about it.
I never rode an FZ1, but I have heard many good things about them. Both the 1st gen and newest model. I love the look of the new one, but I'm not sure I'm I4 kinda guy. I love the torque of a V2. Like most of you, my only real problems with the SH are the gas milage (milage and small tank) and its carburated. The ease of adjustment with fuel injection would be nice.

I am picking up the new (to me anyway) SH on Saturday. I am thinking brake upgrades and heated grips are the first mods to come....I will have a little bit of time before riding weather is upon me here in Northern Illinois.

That's great! There's lots of info here on how to tune the bike to your riding style and body weight. If you get it right the Superhawk is one of the best machines around in an urban environment. It's quick, agile and most importantly LOUD!

Well, I picked it up on Saturday. It was located in Indiana about 40 miles South of Indianapolis. My buddy and I made the trek and I got to take it for a quick spin there and check everything out. It warmed up fast, despite being about 40 degrees outside. It didn't stumble at all and pulled hard. I went through all the gears and it felt new. I have included a few pictures. The first one was taken by the previous owner in July. The second one I took from inside the truck on the way home. The last one I took about an hour ago in the garage. I need to take it outside and get a better pictur, but I am trying to watch the Bear game while typing here. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited..............Ok it may take me a few minutes to figure out how to add the pictures.

Thanks everyone! I really liked the 05 color best, but this one is really growing on me. The pipes are pretty subdued compared to the 2 Bros. It has a nice rumble though. I like it (not as cool as the louder ones), but its probably best its not too loud. I leave so early in the morning it would **** alot of people off when I'm warming it up in the am.
