Damn...I voted for the Hawk before I saw the pic of the RC. That is one nice *** bike for $6500! Sato pipes look to be in superb shape....undertail looks nice...bodywork looks clean. Go for that RC!!!

I would go for the RC and make it more comfortable, although there is some satisfaction in blitzing squids on the latest hot-**** race reps on a 10 year old "sport tourer" Super Hawk that most who aren't in the know don't consider a real sportbike.

there is no 3rd option, i would probalby not get either one, though the rc looks sweet and the sh really grew on me.

i would get an sv1000 full fairing version because i am not really a honda guy

out of those 2 i would get an rc, although you do run the risk of looking a little goofy on it becuase big guys on small bikes dont always look that great - im 6'3 and i have to chose carefully too

good luck dude

If this poll was on the RC51 board I doubt the poll #'s wouldn't be so close.

I'll vote hawk... The reason being that I don't quite fit comfortably on the RC... and like some here said.. squids look so funny when they get schooled by and "old" sportstourer...

That RC is a SMOKING deal for $6500!! If you have your heart set on a high-performance v-twin, you can't go wrong with that bike. I've ridden a buddies' RC and I didn't have a problem with the ergos- Not that different from some of the CBRs I've owned. You'll be fine as long as you're not putting around in slow traffic.

+1 for Satos- they are truly bad-***.

Go for the cheaper Super Hawk and spend the diff on upgades to really make it your own bike.

I would have to say Hawk all the way. I had an 01 RC and while it is a great track bike, I still kept my hawk when the rc went away, and now I have another hawk. When I was racing with WERA on a 02 triumph daytona, I actually entered my hawk in the sound of thunder ahrma race at CMP and much to my suprise I was faster on the hawk then the daytona. Plus I stripped the shark-skinz off and rode it to deals gap the next weekend. For me it is THE all around bike. Good luck.

I voted for the hawk, Why because I have one with an RC front end on it!

My brother has an RC and it sits in the garage with a cover on it and he rides his Super Duke all of the time. Yes it is one of those bikes with a dirt bike bar on it but I also really like the Tuono which also has a dirt bike bar. But both of them sound great with pipes on them and they are V-twins!

Super

The RC 51 was a consideration for me until I asked my insurance agent about coverage verses covering a VTR. He knew the difference between the two and the SH was less to cover by a wide margin. Of course the modifications came later and what the agent doesn't know doesn't hurt the premium invoice. Besides, a well ridden built S'hawk will hang with the pure sportys come Sunday.

It would be nice, though, to have a friend in possession of a RVT.

RC51 for looks alone, but I can't use any more power than the SH provides, but the RC51 sure looks sexy.
I sat on one at the dealer before deciding on the SH and there is no way I could do my 40 mile one way commute leaned over like that with a 61 year old back. Plus my wife and I sometimes do 5 plus hour weekend rides...that would be OUCH on an RC.

I have both right now and am selling the SHawk. First off the 05 black paint just looks so good. The Ergos are not that bad and I commute about 80 one way. I am in WV so every road here is twisty so the RC is great for that. If you get one put on the power comander and it will smooth out the stumble in traffic. The RC will leave the hawk on speed in any range, all things being equal. Further, I am getting better Mileage with the RC also on the commute. I thought before I got the RC that I would just put the money into the SH, instead I bought the RC which needs no handleing changes, at least for me. IMHO go RC no disapointments.

I did love that SH though, so either way you are going to be happy... Oh by the way the SH is for sale here in the Classifieds...

I would have bought an RC if it came with a free chiropractor. I saw one on Ortega last Sunday, sounded nice.
