First ride: I took my brother’s CX500 for a ride up our road and dumped it coming back. Thing was a brick and nothing was hurt. I must’ve been 17. It changed everything for me. I was a muscle car kid with a ’71 Dodge Challenger, but after the brief spin on the Honda I decided if I wanted speed a motorcycle was the way to go. So I got a Honda Elite 50… Go figure.

First motorcycle: I can’t count the scooter, though I put lots of miles on it. I bought an RD125 from a woman at the hotel where I worked. My other brother was a two-stroke freak and fixed the little RD so well that it seized. Almost 15 years later I would sell a FJ1200 to buy a hot-rod RD400 from him, bringing the thing full circle.

Age I got my license: I think I was 25. I went through a bunch of bikes between the RD and when I got my license – two CB750s, a CB550, and a KZ400 – but I did my license on a VF700F. I liked the Interceptor a lot until it started grinding cams…

 

Well I found a photo of me saying I was 5 yrs old on a Kawasaki 75 with folding handle bars don't know what model it was Been riding ever since. except for a time when my kids where small I raised them myself so you know did not want to die or anything.

 

started 4 yrs old on Yamaha 60 tri-zinger 3 wheeler, graduated to my dads 200cc Yamaha 4 stroke 3 wheeler @ 10 yrs old, got the 250r 3 wheeler @ about 14 yrs old, putted around on a old Honda cb360 streetbike in the fields @ 15, got a 86 zx600r Kawi @ 28 and now have the vtr @ the big 30. I wanted a bike @ 18 but decided I was too wild and crazy so I just did the dumb **** in a car until I felt responsible enough. Plus a lot of people talked me out of it and I at least wanted to see 21 before I got a bike.
