How do you strap stuff to the back seat?

How do you strap stuff to the back seat?

Other bikes I've seen have four points to hook a cargo net type set up to. But how do you guys secure anything well with the two under seat hooks? I don't need hard bags or anything, but I would like to be able to secure a small bag or even heavy shirt.

I take a streach net with the hooks removed and install the seat over it. There is plenty hanging out to sucure things. Use cheap plastic clasps from the home depot to pull the net over what you want to carry.

I use a magnetic tank bag...no worries about scratches, and it looks better.

I usually take a smaller one, but a 10"X10"X18" sport bag full of stuff stays put with those two seat hooks and a couple of bungees. No problem.

I've carried bigger/longer packages by doing same as above plus running a long bungee under the rear fender, forward of the turn signal stalks and up over the package.

I take one tiedown with me and use the hook points on the rear seat pegs to tie all kinds of stuff down (I don't use the rear seat cowl). Anything from computers to backpacks to 50lb bags of dog food. And yeah, I should probably drive my truck more, but the bike is tons more fun!

I have a Corbin seat and use a Cortec tail pack. I lift the seat, cross the straps(X) and push it back down to lock it in place. I don't carry alot of weight in it so it doesn't move around or scratch anything up.

There are 4 bungee points total, one by each passenger peg, and the two under the seat.

But I usually use my tank bag.

I used to always carry a passenger helmet (tie that down with a net) and stuff everything in there. Now I keep the seat cover on and either wear a back-pack or take my Shadow with the saddle-bags.

I've had a Rocket Locker (now Luggage Locker) on my bike for years......holds a passenger helmet or other "stuff" of comparable volume plus two small exterior pockets......best of all NO STRAPS.....

Tank bags 1st, back packs 2nd, nets are for extra stuff that cant go in bags. IMO

I just run straps thru the subframe and exhaust brackets since I don't have passenger pegs anymore. Works fine for strapping on saddlebags, a gym tote or anything else.

It's a matter of personal preference. I don't care for tank bags. For 12 or 15 bucks worth of codura and bungees, you can pack more on the rear of the seat, secured only by those two seat hooks, than you can in the world's greatest $100 tank bag. If the back of the seat is already full, or you've got the wife/gf there, a tank bag makes sense. I just don't like/don't need a tank bag.

One thing I love my tank bag for when its empty or almost empty is when I tuck down into the fairing when hauling ***, it makes a nice rest to lay on, right about the perfect height off the tank.

Hey Jonnyd...you wouldn't have a red seat cowl for sale would ya?
I like using cornandp's seat rack, but I'd still like to have a cowl.....

i use backpack first, tank bag second and last if have to use bungie on back seat. i witnessed my buddy's tail pack come loose and get sucked into his chain. locked up the rear wheel at about 70mph on the highway....good thing he used to doing rolling burnouts cause he handled just fine coming to stop on the shoulder..hahahahaaha you should have seen the smoke trail down the highway even after we stopped...

It's the hook on the subframe on the left side. Put the metal part of the helmet strap on that, hang the helmet off the left side, then put the seat back on.
