How do you.....
Sneak any purchases past the misses?
I am going to be getting around £2K worth of parts through the door over the next month - I am trying to cunningly spread them out over a month period - none of them are especially large (no forks or wheels etc) but the packages will stack up and then I actually have to fit them..... I can almost hear her ask what I am doing as I look over my shoulder with the rabbit in the headlights look, bike is in bits, wrapping for new parts all over the place and I manage a convincing "nothing". Then even if I get away with I will be so excited with all the new parts that she is bound to notice my dancing when it is all finished.
So lets just assume I get busted, scrap that, lets all just agree that it is a definite what do I do?
1) Play dead and hope that much like a polar bear she will leave me be
2) Turn it around - "I am so glad that caught me with all these new parts for the bike" (that will put her straight off her stride), "you rememeber ...... "enter story that justifies the spend in a scientific way - usually something around safety does the trick
3)Tell her to **** off as it is my money - the drunk and brave option to be followed by sleeping in the spare room a lot

This has worked for me...
Have friends of questionable character that frequent questionable locales with questionable friends of the female persuasion.

is the money you spent, money that YOU earned? if she's the bread winner, then you're SOL. but if you made the money that you are spending, then she can sit and spin. by all means, she can give suggestions, even voice objections, but in the end, you make the call, and she had better learn to deal with it. you can't serve 2 masters. there is only the bike

1) have them shipped to a friend and slowly bring them home when she's not looking
2) have them shipped to the shipper terminal - there's a UPS hub near me and I have things sent there and picked up there to maintain a secret.
3) your having these sent to your address for a friend

Tell her that they keep getting the order wrong and that you are returning the items, and they are sending the correct part, but they keep screwing it up.

I have found out that the truth is much better. I say it keeps me out out ot the bars and point out the safe track day compared to when and if the meat wagon comes up to get you. By the way I have 2 med flights so she likes the quick ride and help thing. Good luck but rember if you lie you have to lie to cover up the lie and so on

I always use the exhaust pipes that I want (and don't have) as my buffer excuse..."Hey this carbon fiber fender and hugger were only $200 on ebay, thought it was a fair compromise to the $600 pipes!"
Of course you're talking about a bit more money so how about "Cheaper than the new bike I'm eyeing!".

ahhh! this is what i paid admission for. birds of a feather. i always hope the delivery arrives when the mrs aint home and if she is we are off to the shopping mall for something she is intersted in. also +1 to lunch, dinner and or both!awe rae bes

Send her on vacation with her sister that she has not seen for a while. Say for instance a nice spa or retreat. That way you will have the house and the garage for a week all by yourself. On top of that she will come home with a big smile on her face, just be done by the time that she gets home!

I just start dropping little hints about wanting this or that.... Than She gets use to hearing about it, that by the time I get the parts it's no big deal.
