Great Value!
I just can't believe what a steal these bikes are..great value for money. I paid $3,000 for a 2000, 7,000 miles. Pulls like a train and yet will burble along at 2,000 rpm. Sweet handling, and looks the business.
Only downside is filling up every hour but that's a small price to pay for such a great bike! I'm hooked!

I paid $3400 for a 2005 with 9600mi. I sold the D&D pipes and netted $250 which brings it down to $3150. Now for the painful part, I've spent another $2000 on upgrades: pipes, shock, fork springs, APEs, front tire, brakes, and a ton of small stuff like seals, plugs, bearings, nuts and bolts... The bike is so nice now that even at $5k it is a steal considering what the alternatives cost. It gets noticed too. Just today with filling up a guy walked over and said nice Super Hawk! JB

Bought a '98 last year with 4300 miles/$2500. Runs like a dream but my friend pointed out that even with the low miles the clutch and brake fluids gotta go, they look like tea! The tires have low millage but they've gotta go also. So now I have s/s lines coming and new tires when the bike goes in for inspection. Thought I was going to get off cheap this year.

i was just thinking about what a great bike the vtr is. yesterday i rode my 1098, yes it's a great bike, but the vtr is more fun. the things handles well, is not intimidating, has power, is cheap, sounds great, is reliable, etc... i could go on for a long time. i feel it is the best bike i've owned.
i lowered the vtr for my lady. it's too low for me to enjoy now, so i would like to get another one! my lady says two bikes are enough, and even i have a hard time justifying a third.
you wanna talk about small gas tanks - try owning a 1098.
