Go easy on us Noobs....

Thanks for the support from the Mods. Some of us try and not be too obvious about our affliction. Noobness can be cured but it takes time and usually lots of money. We thank you for your support.

That said.... as I was posting my very first album the Fedex man showed up and delivered my new exhaust!!

Will post new pics when I get back from terrorizing the neighbourhood!

Thanks for the advice Karbon. I think that would be great if you got yourself some suspension mods, tires, and a track day. I have over 50,000 kms experience on about 10 different bikes including a CBR954RR and a 2001 RC51 with lots of after market suspension (Ohlins shock and Ohlins internals in the front end.)

Although I have never attended a track day I have read and employ the techniques in Twist of the Wrist I and II as well as Advanced Sport Riding Techniques by Nick Lienatch (hope that's right). The information in those books allowed me to practice techniques at street speeds that have saved my life more than once. I have seen Jesus a few times but over all I am a pretty safe and responsible rider. If I wanted a performance twin I would have bought another RC. I bought the Super Hawk just to ride sanely on the street and having a nice sounding exhaust is part of that experience for me.

I am a noob to this site but have been around awhile.

Welcome! What exhaust did you get?

My MIGs are too loud for my taste, I want to switch to some Microns when I have more $$ available.

I got Yoshimura Titanium low mounts. I wanted a set of high mounts and looked at Leo Vince but they looked too big or something. Didn't like the look. I had race only Leo's on my RC and it boomed in the most amazing way. Closest thing to a Duc I have heard. I have heard that Jardine's are way too loud but I do like the look of them. Went with the Yosh because I like the look and the easily removed inserts that I can put back with an allen key and 2 small bolts when I need something quieter.

They sound good but not as boomy as I thought they would. Pop a little on decel when the inserts are out. Sounds kind of cool but not sure if that will damage anything. I don't really want to add a jet kit or fiddle too much with it. Any ideas?

Is Fed Ex bringing your new tires and oil tomorrow?

And

If it runs well at all rpm's without fiddling with the carbs, ride it and have fun. Otherwise there's lots of info on the forum about jetting and needle shims.

Its obvious that he didn't get that ordered yet, he needs to take a poll on what tires and oil other members use prior to making a decision like that. DUH!no offense to mister clean

The popping comes from the PAIR system. It injects fresh air into the exhaust to burn off any unburned gas. (emissions)

The sound will not hurt anything, but if it annoys you, you can disable or remove it: https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ead.php?t=9875

FYI: The knowledge base has a lot of good threads on all kinds of topics:

No actually. Fed Ex brought me my oil on Friday but they wouldn't change it for me so I still have the old oil in.

I had to get the exhaust out of the U.S. on Ebay because Yosh doesn't offer exhaust for the VTR 1000 in Canada anymore so I had to find a dealer with stock left over.

WHOOAA easy there boss, not a picking on your credibility or skill as street rider.

Thanks for expounding on your riding experience.

Great books. I have twist I and a few others as well.

As far as millage..the last zero is 10th Just saying. 30k km isn't that much. Especially when strecthed over a number of years on different bikes and the type of riding.

In anycase, its all about enjoying yourself.

Enjoy your new exhaust! I have some CF Jardine rt1 hi-mounts. Noticable at idle, pretty civil sounding at abt 3-4k and just plain rude at 6k.
