Honestly,
I haven't used all the diesel oils, but I have used Rotella and Delo 400. Something that I notice with the different oils that I get on my hands is the perceived lubricity, both before and after washing my hands. High quality motorcycle oils tend to have a degree of lubricity that is difficult to wash off (my hands are usually dry and absorb a lot). I don't notice this with Rotella, I do with the Delo. I have moved towards using the Delo 400 where applicable because of this. I know this is not a direct relationship to engine lubrication, but it is good enough for me.

Oil threads. Oh, my!

I ordered a case of the SuperTech filters from my local Wally World when I bought my bike based on articles that I read here. A week later I show up to collect my filters and they don't have them. I'm pissed and they know it so they order again. This time I get a call. We have your filters. In fact, we have two cases of filters for you. I get to the store and they have the first order, the re-order and one to put on the shelf.

I looked around so see if anybody was looking for idiots. I bought all three. May sound extreme but I was feeding three bikes with the same filter at the time. I'm still feeding two. I got another couple years before I have to be concerned about filters.

By the case they were $1.47 each.

KD who used to hang here some always said the best oil for the Superhawk was Rotella. Not the synthetic - just the old-school white bottle. He said it was low in detergent action and that's why he liked it best. He once said, "It's just pure lubrication - not all the extra ****." KD is a jet mechanic, Heuy, Cobra, AH64 - now does freighters for Fed X.

Sorry to revive a dead/dying thread...

But, Rotella T Triple 15-40 was only $12.97 at WalMart today.

It was 18 or so at AutoZone, but they seemed ok with price matching.

That's nothin' to brag about, lol! Exchange it for the good stuff!! (m1 4t)

Not tryin' to flame or anything. My personal experience with the stuff wasn't good. It shifted like the beat down M1.

I've been using purolator on bikes the last few years. Over 100k no problems at all.

All my bikes shift like butter with any oil that I've tried, and I have tried most. I just go by how long it can remain oily. Delo looked like black water at 1k. M1, Spectro, Fuchs, Rotella, all stayed oily long enough, about 1500 miles or less. Here is why, I drive a worktruck from my house so I can't commute on a bike. When I take my bikes out on the weekends I tend to flog them and beat on the oil, brakes, tires, sooner that a commuter might.[< kinda weak statement but I'll allow it] For me, anything but Delo is fine. Rotella usually the cheapest.
