Thumbs up Fork Springs

Well I finally got round to replacing the fork springs in my '98 Hawk. Took it for a quick spin last night and could not believe the difference. The bike actualy fees like it has suspension in the front now! Why did I wait so long to do this? If you you're debating whether to make this change do it now! Thanks to all who've posted on settings etc - the help is invaluable.

Did you change the stock values?

Those are shist and need to be either drilled or replaced by aftermarket ones.

Changed the springs only (90# racetech). Haven't touched the valves yet.

I got .85's Could take more stiffness, .90 or .95 140mm of 7w oil is dead on as oil adjustment.
Glad you like it, is was hitting my head on walls not to have done this the first day I had the bike

Where did you buy the springs? Get a good price?

Washington Cycle - local store with great service. Price was pretty similar to buying direct from Racetech. Good service at a local store is worth supporting.

I weigh just under 180 and went with .90's. Air gap of 145mm using 10w. Haven't had chance to set the sag yet but it feels so much better already. Of course it now feels lack the back end is made of wood. Next project...

Yeah, they could have used a 2x4 as rear shock, this is spine threatning stiff, at the lowest setting it barely drops when I sit on it. I want to shim the shock and find some better unit or at least a softer spring.
