first track day...Jan 22...any hawk specific advice?
title says it all, I have all my gear together and just need to go get some track compound tires put on...
also if anyone has a spare set of VTR wheels I'd be interesting in buying them (so I can just swap wheels back in forth instead of tires everytime).

I'm a little bit of a track day *****! I'll pm you my cell number. Quite a few people here track their Superhawks. I guess I have a little bit of advice for ya?
Welcome to the addiction!

CVR, I don't have a trailer so I'm just going to ride there, google says it's 170 miles...shouldn't be too bad...I rode over the grapevine when I had an cage racing event at Buttonwillow...
Hey was it expensive for Dan Kyle Racing to do your front end? I'm a heavier dude and I find the stock front end really soft..

Been there, done that. I hope you have very good thermals! I've almost froze to death riding over the grapevine during the winter? Also your going to need heated gloves? or at least some warmer packs from Big 5 or somewhere, also place them in your boots as well.
I pretty much ride to all my track days, but I have a bunch of buddies if anything bad should happen. I really like Buttonwillow, has a bit of everything, fast, slow, technical & bumpy. Its a great track for the Superhawk. Just take it reall easy in the first two morning sessions, it get real cold at buttonwillow in Jan.

Yes! $850 I never paid that the original owner did.
You can make a real big improvement to the front end by just replacing the springs and fresh oil. I did many trackdays on a set-up like that, with the stock rear shock.

Sorry for the confusion - this track day is at CVR...but a couple of weeks ago I was racing a car in the 24 hours of lemons at buttonwillow and I rode myself there over the grapevine...actually to avoid getting frostbite I put my fireproof racing suit on over jeans and under my riding jacket...haha
try to find someone that can trailer your bike for you. if everything goes well youll be tired and worn out by the end of the day, not to mention if the worst happens. other than that, just relax and have fun! go slow to go fast.

Most of the stuff there is a good recommendation and made my first track day great.
Hawk specific? Enjoy having the best sounding bike on the track...
