Are slip ons bike specific?

Does anyone know if slip on mufflers are bike specific? In other words are rt1s all the same muffler? does it vary by brand? Basically I'm looking for the best deal I can get on some decent after market slip ons and have some mid pipes on the way. I think they are 2 inch mid pipes. Oh and if anyone has some high mount mid pipes (maybe mig or micron) that they are willing to part with let me know.

I wouldn't worry about it. Supposedly slip-ons were tuned for the particular bike on a dyno, but not much difference. You may have to tune to the pipes after install if it's too rich, lean or otherwise performs poorly. But it can be done rather easily. If you can get everything to fit the way you want, then you can deal with the performance issues later if need be.

SuperTrapp sells stand alone slips of different sizes and material. You can download their catelog then order from summit racing. I have one on my Hawk GT, it works and looks great.

Some sizes vary depending on the model, but for instance I'm fairly certain a pair of say two brothers or leo vince mufflers from a superhawk are the same as the ones for an rc51, etc, etc. It's the mid pipe/link pipes that are bike specific because of the bends and lengths. If you're mixing and matching mufflers your main issues are going to be midpipe outlet size/muffler inlet size, and how they mate to each other-one spring, two springs, clamps, etc.

Second...it's the mid pipes that change. The giant baffle tube at the end is basically the same.

Seems to me it could be made to fit without tons of hassle. Years ago I sold my buddy my yosh slip on. Came off my 95 zx7r. He put it on his gixxer. Don't think he had any trouble installing it

I doubt that within a brand the mufflers are any different at all. They are a business they will go the most cost affective route. Different mid pipes but same can.

The Yoshimura slip-ons for the SuperHawk are bike specific. The mid pipes are welded to the muffler body during the manufacturing process. The sleeves (stainless, titanium, or carbon fiber) and packing are replaceable by drilling out the rivets.
