The valves themselves stay the same. I use a lighter oil and a heaver shim stack.

 

hmm... well, if you care to let me know how i can use .95 or .90 springs without changing out the valves that would be nice. so like what weight of oil and what do i have to do to shim them or whatever that is?

 

You need to tear down the fork cartridge all the way down. If you've not done it before and are mechanically inclined then go very slowly and take pics and set everything out in order it came. You will need to order the special shims from Racetech or another suspension company to get the stack you want. Shims vary in size from 8mm to 18mm diameter and .10 to .30mm thickness.

If you're not mechanically inclined then have someone else (me ) do the job for you.

PS If you're asking me for the shims to install and the oil to use that'd be like asking Jim Lindemann, Max from Traxxion, or any other suspension tuner their shimstacks. They're just not going to give that information away. That's their livlihood, and though I don't have an official business of my own right now I plan to when I retire from the Navy. Sorry.

I would recommend a very high level of cleanliness and don't install your fork seals the way this guys shows on his site. Use a seal driver or the correct size PVC pipe cut in half longways.

 

In the interest of not starting a new thread, I just read through this again and it sounds like your saying that I can keep the stock valves but have to change out the shims on the rebound and the compression, correct?

Thinking of doing a .90 spring now that I have to replace the seals...
