Evening ride in the desert with my little red mule...

Yea, really miss riding in Utah, was stationed near Ogden in early to mid 80's. Miss the canyon roads thru the Wasatch mountains. Also good to see another Hawk with Blue Flame Evo exhaust I went with the low mounts, due to using saddle bags @ the time. Wish now I had the hi mounts.

The pipes came with the bike. At first I kinda wished I had passenger pegs and a little quieter pipes but I've grown to love them and the sound on the open highway is fabulous. The high-pipe design really is pretty (though my boots will rest on the pipes if I'm not careful).
Anyway the pipes are Blue Flame https://www.blueflameperformance.com/main_english/ .
Yeah, Moonster I moved to Utah because of the riding. Two road trips through southern Utah.... Escalante Grand Staircase, the Boulders, Glen Canyon, Capital Reef National Monument, Zion, Dixie National Forest and proximity to the Grand Canyon.... love it; I was hooked.
I've also really enjoyed my Nevada riding which is usually passed over by tour guides as there are so many straight roads. Yes, there are a lot, but there are some twisties too and lonely desert roads passing a ghost town or two and some abandoned mines makes you KNOW you are out west. Something special about that.
But if you come to the SW in the summer, bring vented (mesh), armored gear (much cooler than exposed skin, unless you like looking like a baked potato), regular applications of sunscreen on your face and neck and a hydration pack so you can drink-drink-drink water and you'll be fine.

jshram, you mentioned that you wished the muffs were quiter, do you have the baffles installed? Just curious, I've experminted with mine, currently running with the top baffle in & the bottom plug drilled out (1/2in.) not too loud.

Well, if those inner pipes in your tips are baffles, I don't think my bike has them (can't look right now, I'm in Utah, bike is in Vegas). Guess that explains the rather exuberant exhaust note. Earplugs on long trips is what I've done. Part of me loves the louder note, but the more practical side likes it a little quieter so you don't get so fatigued.
Thanks for that clarification. It is a learning curve figuring out what previous owners did on a used bike... so far as I can tell this bike has:
Turn signals eliminated (flush mount)
Riser handlebars
Dyno-Jet/needle kit installed
Blue-flame pipes
carb heaters removed
smog stuff removed (from the air-cleaner box)
and now, baffles removed.
I like it very much, only thing I think I'd like to do is replace the tensioners since that seems to be a hot topic with this bike and possibly add frame-sliders.
Thanks! John

Here is a better picture of the baffles (on top) & plug (on bottom) these are held in with cir-clips. This is why I bought them in the first place, so you have 4 options as to noise level. Hopefully you can get replacements form BlueFlame.

Apology for my thread jack here.
What kind of tail light is that? I've never seen one like it before.
#21
Crackinfine, the tail light is part of the undertail & came as seen. It also came with optional red lenses. I added the small red flasher/strobe, that flashes 5 times & then goes steady when brakes applied. Best i can remember , purchased the undertail thru Revsperformance or Extremegrafix. My appologizes also for jacking jshram's thread.
