Engine Replaced????

I have an 05 and near the engine serial # I found this written in paint marker. Used motor??? If it was replaced, the mechanic did an awesome job doing it. All bolts/fasteners look unmolested. I am assuming the motor serial number has to be checked thru Honda for year of manufacture? Sub-frame has right paint code sticker, and info sticker under seat on rear fender is dated 05. There is no evidence of it being wrecked (that I can tell). It had factory ccts on it..not anymore. Not that concerned about, more of a piece of mind thing.

I do know the 05 model frame numbers start at 700001. Engines have a start/stop number for each model year, i do believe.

Mine has similar blue markings in handwriting. I've also wondered that but I doubt it's from an engine swap.

I didnt think so either, buddy of mine was trying to convince me motor came from a salvage dealer. I told him there is no way you can swap a motor and leave absolutely no evidence of a wrench being on it. I dont think the PO ever done any maintenance on it other than oil and tires.

I have white markings in same place on my 2000 and was also wondering if they were markings from a salvage yard, but if everyone has them in the same spot I have to assume its a good sign that it was something done at the factory?

I replaced my motor and dont think it has markings. Never looked but you would have a hard time telling it was swapped.
