Engine cuts out
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a 98 VTR1000f which had a a few inital problems one of which was the carbies were installed back to front from a HONDA shop!!!! Jesus, anyway its been fixed properly everything is great or is it. Every now and again the engine will just cut out sometimes i'm in neutral sometimes i'm holding the clutch in on first (So it can't be the stand switch right?) the engine doesn't make any indication that it will cut out like spluttering or idles revs dropping. It tends to idle at about 1000ish and each time the engine is fairly warm about 1/4 on the temp gauge. Does anyone else have this issue and have fixed it?

Raise the idle to 1200rpm and see if that helps

You failed to inform us if it is just at idle or while you are riding as well. If it is at idle only, this is a common issue and adjusting the TPS to 500 ohms helps tremedously. Also, like Wicky mentioned, bump the idle up to 1200. Although, once I adjusted the TPS, I checked for ***** & giggles, and my SH would idle smoothly as low as 850-900 rpms.
