I'm looking at a Superhawk with more than 50K and unknown history. If it sounds ok does that mean any CCT failures have not damaged the engine?

A compression test would be the minimum that I would want to do.

Unfortunately, it's been my experience that if a CCT failure occurs, usually it's a catastrophic failure. As in the engine is not operable without major work. Does it still have the OEM CCT's? Does it run okay? I agree with Xeris as a minimum.

Not operable? When mine went, it still ran on one cylinder. Granted, it was difficult to get the front end up in 3rd gear, but it still ran. Come on, it's a SuperHawk.

I guess a rough running 500cc single Super Hawk is better than nothing. Did it get twice the fuel mileage?

Actually, it was the smoothest running thumper I've ever encountered. But, seriously, it kept running on one jug.

Auron, does the seller say the bike had a CCT failure in its past? If so and, even if not, I'd do a compression check like the other guys say. If it has OEM CCTs and you buy it, I'd change them out for new OEM or aftermarket manuals sooner rather than later whatever the seller says.
