Differences between 98 an 02 SH?

What are the main differences between a 98 SH and a 02 SH besides the guages?

color on side cases, wheels, and fork legs, slighty differnent wiring harness for said guages, and maybe the redesigned/updated regulatror/rectifier. tapeworks shows the graphics being "slighty" different. that's all I know of.

if you're wondering if the 02 is a "better" bike, then no just newer.

Doesn't the newer models have a gas gauge rather than a light?

How hard is it to update a 2k to a 2k2+ gauge system? I.E. Electronic Vs. Analog?

Check the microfiche on Ron Ayers' website. I believe the connector is all different too.

Yep, wiring loom is different, I have checked it out and I think it is too hard so decided not to do it. Too many differences in the loom.

It depends on which version too as some models (ie. outside North America) also got a larger 19L gas tank. I beleive the clip-ons are slightly different too (higher). Also, the forks were said to have been re-calibrated.

I also recall hering about the ignition curve beign slightly altered.

cheers

The Italian red on the SH is a nice color - guess I am partial to it since my '02 is red... my first choice would have been the blue from the '03 models with red or black a very close second.

Actually yellow is probably the fastest, hence the term "screaming yellow zonkers."

I could be wrong, but the '03 I have now definitely seems like it has less punch than the '98 I had prior. Unfortunaetly I never had the '98 on a dyno, but seat of the pants impression made the '98 feel stronger.
