Clip-On Question

Is it possible to take the right clip-on, rotate it 90 degrees to the left and mount it on the left side (and vice-versa)? This would bring the bars an inch or so closer but I'm not sure what it would do to the other angles.

Probably... But you will then pinch your hands against the tank, and likely make dents/marks in stuff...

Why?!

I was just thinking it might be a very cheap way to move the bars back a little. Helibars and new brake lines aren't in the budget right now.

There is an easier way... Get VFR bars... The years that work, can be found using a search in the forum...

he could adjust the steering stops to prevent that. you'd have to see how much it reduces your turning radius...

Steener - watch ebay for the next 6 months (in illinois your season is over anyway). Sometime over the winter you should find VFR to be had in the $50 range. I bid on a number of them before I got mine. Personally I think they look better than Heli's and will give you all of the advantage

You went to all the trouble to take everything off and take pics. Why not go the extra yard and try it and see what you think. It might work.

Galaxieman has the stock clip-ons for sale and had the picture in his posting. I simply took some liberties with his picture. I will keep an eye out for some VFR bars on ebay. Thanks all.....

I know you can do it with woodcraft clip-on's. my local shop guy did it for me without me asking thinking he was doing me a favor. personally, I like the lower sportier posture. not looking to sit up any straighter, so I changed them back. but it did work. probably work for stock too since I think my woodcrafts have the same angle as stock.

OK, sorry about that. To me, it looks like it's worth a try. Visually. it appears doable. Maybe I'll give it a shot this winter. I have mine pulled back and up to top now, so I've been experimenting a bit.

Check the classifieds right freakin' now! Guy selling the VFR SSS is selling a set of bars for $75. Your wrists will thank you.

The best years are '91-'97. Otherwise you have to be "creative". Is that what you call it, Erik? Hehe! It's all good but it was unexpected and what else is new, SM? Trim the fairing and it's barely noticable. I think he bought 2001 or 2003? His whole frontend package was good when I rode the bike. It might have been a little taller than my Helis but I think the angle falls off quicker than my bars. Bars and grips are more multi-dimensional and subjective than exhaust cans.

If I recall correctly this mod can be done on an RC51. Is that why you ask?

I was looking at mine tonite and i don't think it'll work. It looks like the MC's (frnt brake and Clutch) might get in the way.
