car/bike comparison

I actually sold my '85 5.0L GT (5 speed with T-tops) that I owned for 13 years to buy my Hawk.... the one thing they both share is an awesome sound... both are a pleasure to listen to... you don't necessarily get that with a Grand National.

I don't think cars really compare to bikes, at least not performance wise. But if I wanted to play along...
I think that Buick Grand National would be more like a Yamaha V-Star 650 than a VTR.
Gregw has the best answer so far. That Austin Healey Mk. III is the only "foreign" car I lusted after as a kid. I've never driven one, but I've driven its ill fated successor, a friend's MG-C. Not a drag racer or a rever, but gobs of the low end grunt for its size and weight that I love in vehicles.

i was riding into work this morning thinking about this thread and this is exactly what i was thinking. i guess they would be easier to compare to the SHawk if it had an american motor in an italian chassis but i think in just about all other respects this would be my choice

Lotus come on! Seriously
I like the GN analogy, but I was thinking more along the lines of a 1966 MB gulwing coupe. Pretty sleek and fast for the day, handles nice, and has a cultlike following.

I've been talking about just this line with a friend of mine. I tried to say that the 'Hawk was a Porsche 928 (sporty with V8 torque) but since I'm loving the engine but spending over a grand to rework the lame-ish suspension, I've switched to calling it a V8 Mustang.

Superhawk are alot like the Fox Mustang (I own both). Both are never going to win a top speed shootout, but man playing with that torque is so much fun. GN and GNX I think are more like the Vmax: quarter mile vehicles that can't turn.
