Buying a hawk a few ?
I may be purchasing a 98 hawk 16k miles with d&d carbon fiber slip ons, for $3k is that a good deal? Are there any common problems that i need to be aware of and look out for before purchasing? thanks

EngineNoO9 is an unknown quantity at this point
good deal assuming good condition for the bike and never dropped (well a clean title at least). biggest issues are the regulator/rectifier and the cam chain tensioners.

If it is clean, no road rash that is an excellent price. If it has damage, then decide what you can live with, what you would like to see replaced,,, price out the OEM or after market parts, and make an offer you can live with.

If you're willing to come to FLA. I know where you can get a '99 with 2500 miles, (no that's not 25000 it's 2500) for $4200. But the one you found sounds good too.
