Bumping a thread is a means to get it back into the unread section of the forum. It brings it back from the dead so to speak. For instance I am selling a whiz-bang-a-call-it and everyone has read it but a week later I want them all to read it again I will go in and enter a new response to "bump" the thread back to the top.

Usually threads go bump in the night, too.

You'll notice people will put "ttt" also, that means to the top and is the same as bump.

If you bump it too much, the thread may "tilt" and then you have to start over
