Bike would only bump start

After sitting at work all night my VTR would crank and crank but not fire. IT Did Bump start in second gear and ran fine on the way home. It even started the next day. Is the charging system weak?

I almost passed out. i hit my nuts so hard on the tank while attempting a bumpstart i almost puked.. I thought i was going to die. Some dude with helped me out with his battery charger after wacthing me almost kill myself in the street.

Stator Dead?

I checked the voltage from the stat or with the bike running and all three leads showed no more than 11 volts. I took out the stator and then I decided to check the resistance like the manual says to. It read within spec. I know that I wasn't gettin any voltage though. Is the stator bad?

The R/R is a known weak point on our bike. If the stator has the right resistance between leads and no short to ground, your R/R is likely to be toast. (the stator is usually fine)
