bike died while running at hwy speed

Last night was running about 80mph bike started to miss ,I though am I running out of gas? swerved back and forth didn't help nursed it about another mile down the road it was missing then off to the side we went .II though this cant be happening this thig has ben bullet proof and very very fun to ride .pitch dark glanced the bike over nothing loose .After 4-5 minutes it starts up and away we go for another 6-7 miles .same thing but by varing the throttle it never completely died. then ran fine rest of the way home 10miles.
1. wasn't charging system it started no dim lights
2 .don't think it was a coil could it have cooled off that quick?
3.heres a possibility was if something was in tank and blocked fuel screen once bike stopped it fell off ? hence the start back up and ran
and input is accepted

Check that the vacuum line didn't come off the petcock or the nipple by the carb or the hose is split.

i would also look at the petcock vacuum line as well. sounds like the float bowls are filled but then are starved for fuel
