Bad petcock rebuild kit

Stay away from this repair kit
Honda VTR1000 VTR 1000 Superhaw Fuel Petcock Repair Kit | eBay=
I got mine and both the diaphrams were undersize and unusable. The only items I used from it were the screws, spring and oring.
I was able to repair mine as the problem seemed to be a blockage on the vacuum inlet. It seemed that you could apply vacuum and it would open the diaphram to allow gas to flow but there was a blockage that would not allow a release in the vacuum so it would close. Mine works perfectly now so that was about 20 wasted dollars.
Just a heads up with my experience on this kit

Thanks for the info. Did your run at all before you decided to replace it? If it did run, what was going on with it?

I just pulled my diaphram () yesterday and all seams to be fine with it. I though for sure it had a crack since its a 99 but it appeared fine. On hard acceleration or 60+ mph it act like it running outta fuel.. I figured it was the diaphram not opening all the way. vaccum is good and the intank filter is yellow but looks like new.. Petcock is in full open and the vac hose is on the right nipple. I guess I need to pull the damn carbs and rebuild.. Or is the gremmlin in the ignition/coil/sparkplug...uhhhg.

Mine ran just fine. I didn't know anything was wrong till I removed my tank and when I pulled the fuel lines it was a freeflow.

I see, Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you had a return spring issue (unlikely) or the small diaphram side was torn or had a bad seat.

I was thinking (& hoping) mine was a tear in the vaccum side (larger side?) of my diaphram but it all seems good.

Time to trouble shoot and trace..

Luckily I checked the operation of it before I reinstalled it and found that the vacuum would not release, so a little air pressure to the vacuum hookup while disassembled seemed to work.
The vacuum side diaphram from the kit was too small in diameter and would not seal
and the small one was not tall enough and wouldn't even seat on the petcock side.
