Back-up plan if forum goes down
Back-up plan if forum goes down
This forum has been very reliable in the past. If something were to happen, I've created a Facebook group as a back-up, and there is always the Firestorm forum.
I would have directed you to the Firestorm FB group, but 80% of the content is banter about what color VTR you have.
Simple as that, no further explanation needed.

Doubt it!
The data is backed up so everything would not be gone. I frequent another heavily used forum that has issues. They've created a FB page to relay info about the status when there is a problem, and chat when it's down. It has been very helpful. I don't see this one going in that direction but you never know.

Jim, I was out all day cuttin' next years firewood! I checked out your FB page and I must say, very cool pics of your machines!
Money wise, this is Greg's forum (Hawkrider), so you'd have to direct that statement to him.

I know this forum is nowhere near as active as it once might have been (way before I joined) but it would be cool to somehow compress the forum database and upload it to github or webarchive for posterity.
I was a mod/admin for a Z31 forum that lost 99% it's traffic to facebook and was pretty much used as reference. The forum eventually went down and all that reference info went with it.
The owners did eventually revived a backup as read only, but none of the personal rides/builds pages were brought back. That's where a lot of the helpful information was.
Facebook sucks for reference, it's mostly just a bunch of yellow firestorm owners trying to assert dominance anyway.

I was on Greg's Runlevelzero VTR forum before this, and it took me until 2007 to discover this forum, which explains my somewhat late join date (if 07 is late?).
Sounds like a great BU plan and thanks!
One question though, what's Facebook?
I just recently went to Windows recently from DOS, and before that it was Digital (they went the way like Sony Beta video did), and early on, Fortran and Basic
I still have my Honeywell peg and board mainframe modules...
I also still have my first whalebone frame slide rule and ebony **** abacus. I saved my Commodore pocket calculator that has 7 digit points, AND my Ti-59 programmable ((with a magnetic strip) log rhythm capable scientific calculator. It connected to its own 2nd gen Silent 700 thermal paper printer.
When I got at work my first electronic adding machine, I thought it was incredible, no more pulling the crank like a Vegas one-armed bandit!
Encoding came next. They called them Punch Card girls but I was an early women's liber!
Those were the days!

Contact Greg
Ho Y'all
Yeh, I'm still trying to kick...
Has anyone tried contacting Greg regarding backing up our knowledge base?
Ive known him for abot 24 years and while we have not met, we've spoken a few times and emailed back and forth.
I also know his brother Steve and SIL, and they're both quite some characters.
LMK and I'll reach out to Greg.
