Back on the Hawk
So just over 6 weeks ago I bravely woke up in the hospital after a mile high high side breaking 8 ribs and my scapula (all same side)
Last week on vacation I started mountain biking to get strength back, then this week I am back on the street commuting from Queens to Brooklyn.
Actually laughing in my helmet the first 2 days of liberation to get that feeling back.
Very blessed to be back on the street this soon, not quite track ready yet but could do it. (Except I have a field of riders gunning to beat me so want to wait for full fitness)
Anyway. Just wanted to share how it happened for me. Breaking a bunch of painful bones only keeps you off your bike about 6ish weeks assuming you were mountainbiking daily and working out.
So happy to be back in the saddle.....

Yes for sure. I mountainbiked first, then slow rides, then commuting which is pretty tame, all on super familiar roads.
Weird to not ride for 6 weeks. I was going into depression.
Not ready for the racetrack yet.
