Hello all,
I joined quiet awhile ago after I purchased an 04 Shawk, and life and work got in the way of riding and writing. Anyway after a long hiatus I'm back to both, well at least posting for now.
After my bike sat for a good 8 months without being run I decided I'd give the carbs a thorough cleaning and perform the HRC jetting. (great stuff btw) First time I've ever done carbs and its all been going as well as can be expected until about an hour ago.
I somehow managed to twist the rear choke cable underneath the carbs and didn't notice until I started putting hose clamps back on so I pulled them off took the plastic nut loose, got the cable routed correctly and then while treading that plastic nut back into the carb, SNAP! It really burned me up cause I had been so careful with those.
It was a clean break and I was able to turn the threads back out. Through a rather tedious process I managed to epoxy the threads back on the nut without getting epoxy on everything. I hope it holds long enough to get a replacement. Has anyone else ever done that with any luck?
Anyway my progress is halted till the epoxy cures, and I am super frustrated. I was really itching to get the bike back on the road. Well if you took the time to read this thanks for letting me vent, and hopefully I'll have my bike back on the road soon and start being more active in the forum.

I think that was one of the infamous "Mr. Murphys'" Laws, somehting about everything goes smooth as duck butter right up to the "LAST NUT", plastic or otherwise and then EVERTHING GOES SIDEWAYS! LOL Maybe you have had you run of misfortune for awhile and your "rather tedious" repair will hold until the replacement is available. I can relate to your situation as I'm sure many others can
(been there, done that, got the T-shirt wore it to a rag and wiped my butt on it and threw it away) I was told that anything with tires or **** I would always have some kind of trouble with but my bike is worth the greif! Good luck with yours.

I've been through that rear choke hell myself, and due to winter conditions the bike rode great until it was hot, then started dying on me and I couldn't figure out why, it took me almost 3 months and 3 different mechanics to find out the issue and order a new choke unit.
Don't despair, my guess is if you applied the epoxy correctly it will hold. Best of luck.
