I was always under the impression that you fitted the steel cap from your old cct onto the new one, is this not the case


Most people on the uk forum believe the problem is when you buy a new cct from Honda ,you can see in the pic that it is in a retracted state , ie the spring is under tension and may have been for many many months ,possibly weakening it ??

There has been a LOT of cct failures over here ,it got to the stage i was always waiting on it happening,and never really at ease when out on it,so had to do something

I just bought my first SH. Its a 98' with 9,031 miles on it. I just noticed a knock noise serveral times, always between 2500 and 3000 RPM. It also ussually makes the power delivery very uneven in that range. If I get it above the 3k mark, its smooth as a button, but I don't always have that luxary living in Hoboken, NJ. I was wondering if you guys had any other riding tips, or if I should replace this CCT part, to keep the engine healthy.
