I was wondering who among you was using some type of ignition advancer on your VTR's? I have scanned around looking for info (Micapeak,...) and it seems that quite a few people are using them (mostly the Factory Pro +4 degrees unit) but I have read few comments that relate directly to its effect.

If you are using one, which type? What has been your experience with it? Pros and cons?

I am currently running a DJ kit and Microns and was contemplating getting one of the Factory advancers.

I had one in my '02 but it didn't seem to make a big difference. I have heard on this forum that the '02s and later years have an improved ignition curve that more or less makes the advancer obsolete on them. I took mine out when the bike seemed to run hotter than I thought it should which is another thing I learned from this forum. I plan to put it back in one of these days when I feel like pulling it aprt again.

My VTR is a 99 so I guess it is pre-new ignition curve.
