Another Air Filter topic
Okay I searched but I couldn't find my specific answer.
My bike came with a K&N filter, and while it runs reasonably well it does have a low speed stumble under 3k rpm that after reading I knew I had the K&N before I even opened up the air box to check (of course now I have confirmed it)
My question is at right around $50 is the stock filter a reusable one or is it a paper filter that I will be replacing every other oil change? I'll run 3k miles on a bike in a month easily (and may be getting a job at a bike dealership about an hour commute from home that I would be mostly riding too) and as often as the bike is under 3k rpm's I may just live with the K&N filter to avoid spending that extra $50 every other month if its not a reusable filter. It just seems a bit expensive to me for a filter.

According to the maintenance schedule in the VTR's manual the standard air filter should be replaced every 12,000 miles. This might differ if you live in a dusty/sandy area.
It should pay for itself with the better mpg than afforded by the K&N filter ;-)
Ron Ayers are currently selling OEM air filters at $37.60 so stock up now!

Yeah it's paper like wicky said, but it doesn't get dirty as quickly as a car filter. I've put 5k miles on this one and I don't see it going less than 15k, and it's not exactly dust free in Arizona.

You can reliably find HiFlo's for 35 on eBay. I went from a K&N to the HiFlo and loved the difference. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...789&cmd=VIDESC
