Airborne ranger hawk
Wow, never a dull moment.
I got the hawk airborne today. Not on purpose and not with great results.
I hit a 2 foot deep SINKHOLE in Manhattan NYC USA.
The cab in front of me sorta missed it but I couldn't even see it til it was too late. Went in at about 30mph, hit the sharp far edge on the gas and got LAUNCHED like who know how high.
Came down hard enough to bounce back in the air again. Was up on the pegs moto style but the seat came and hit me.
Sub frame bolts were SHEARED. (sorry for all the caps but it was a hard hit).
Pulled over, called nypd and filed a report. It also bent my givi rack down to the point that the top case was behind the rear wheel.
Happy to be mostly unhurt and un run over since it was 3pm in midtown Manhattan.
So I limped it back to Queens and had to drill out the threads of the bolts. Disassembled then rebuilt the givi rack. Hard to tell if the subframe is actually bent. Probly not since the bolts failed.
Anyway hope good old NYC will get the bill since it was an obvious road hazard. Will post up the interesting saga.
Bike will be ridden to work tomorrow 6am.

Joe, I think you'd be a good candidate for durability testing. I think you should write to Honda and see if you can get on board with secret 2019 bikes to see how they perform on the track, over pot holes, weaving through traffic, in the snow, and maintenance ergonomics in the field. Perhaps they're making a new superhawk-style sport touring bike with that Africa-Twin motor and need to know which part breaks if they put panniers on it and take it over NYC sinkholes?

Yeah, I tell ya I LOVE a dull day. Its a wonderful thing. Its just city commuting. I can barely comprehend when I get on country roads. I mean people have this every day?
I still love every minute I am on the bike.
