Accident
Accident
I went down on my 98 superhawk last week. Bike needs a gas tank and some new plastics. Does anyone know of any alternative honda parts that would fit or do I need to go all original with the tank and plastic?
Alternatives are out there:
SuperHawk-Firestorm-Plastic-Kit
SuperHawk-Firestorm-Plastic-Kit
Awesome thanks a lot i might buy these right now HAHA
What about alternatives for the gas tank? Like a different motorcycle's tank? It wont fit will it? or is there any that are close enough that you guys may know of?

That sucks bud, didn't you JUST buy it? Sorry to hear that and hope you're ok. What happened? I'm not trying to come across like a jerk, but between your username, your picture of a maxed out speedo, the fact that you JUST bought the bike and only had another for a few month prior (I just sold a '94 magna-nice bike but nothing like the Superhawk if you don't respect it) and your wanting to mount neon, speakers and your phone on your bike...sorry makes me worry a little.
I'm FAR from Colin Edwards myself but before you start mounting power commanders (the bike has carbs by the way) and speakers (really?) and modifying stuff I would recommend making sure you're up to the task first. Call up PBIR or Homestead and see what they have to offer regarding track days and schools to hone your skills. Also first spend some money on some proper safety gear if you haven't already. If you're not into buying used stuff Cycle Gear has some pretty good deals on new. At the risk of being wrong I'll go out on a limb and say you're not dressed properly if you're looking to cruise up and down South Beach. I personally could probably walk through South Beach faster than I could ride through it but to each their own...Leave your f'ing Iphone in your pocket where it belongs so you can concentrate on riding and avoid all the other sedated assjockeys on THEIR phones not paying attention to operating the 4k pound weapons they're driving.
Again not trying to sound like a jerk but I've had to learn how to walk again thanks to someone losing control of their car and not being 100% mentally and physically prepared to deal with it. My fault? Not on paper. Could some other guys on here probably have avoided the accident? I'll bet a few could have... Dropped a nice bike more than once myself too and it's a really shitty feeling. But in the end always be thankful when you can walk away and try to learn something from what happened, whether it was your fault or not. My 2 cents may not be worth much, but at least I took a few minutes to try and be helpful...
So speech time over. What you do as far as fixing it depends on your skill level and also the depth of your pockets. The only thing that "fits" without mods are the stock tank and fairings. Yours can be repaired depending again on your skill level and how bad they are. Also have to verify what else you may have damaged depending on how bad the accident was. Shiny new fairings and tank don't necessarily make a crooked bike safe to ride. Posting up a "wanted" here in the classified and also looking on ebay (gotta know your prices though) are your best bets. Good luck and again hope you didn't get hurt.

Anyway as far as new OEM parts go Ronayers and Partzilla usually have the least expensive prices... Those Chinese fairing kits are definitely the best option option if you don't want to be bothered with bodywork. (though not always the best for quality or fitment). Looking at your pics it looks like you have a Euro/Canadian bike. Where did you find it for sale? Is your speedo in mph or kph?
Between work, shifts at my fire dept and training, several job interviews coming up, and my girl I haven't seen in 2 months coming home on a break, I probably won't be able to do anything for a couple weeks. I'm not sure how handy you are on your own, but if you get into a jam or want me to take a look at it shoot me a PM and next time I'm down your way for work maybe I can stop by and help you out.

Hey capt,
I appreciate the speech and trust me i've learned a lot from this. Honestly, I've been riding the bike like a maniac and now its time to slow it down. As for the accident it was a stupid little mistake on a wet road (couple drinks) leaving a neighborhood where the gate doesnt open for bikes so there is an area to go around it where the sidewalk lowers down. I tried to go through it a little fast and i bottomed out on a large speed hump and the hit the sidewalk with the back tire and went down. I had on a helmet and gloves, I own a jacket but I dont wear it too often.
As for the bike it is a Euro/Canadian bike, Firestorm, and the speedo is in km/h and I found it on craigslist. The guy had a couple beautiful harleys and just bought a new 2014 sportbike so he didnt need the vtr anymore. The bike is a 98 with 15k original miles in mint condition, came with original keys, manual, and tool kit. It was like a brand new bike.
Now I get to fix it and make it look better than new! I like to think im pretty handy but as for the fairings i think im just going to buy new. I have a good friend with a body shop here so I'm thinking awesome custom paint job. I need a new gas tank, both clutch and front break levers (probably whole new assemblies), Right side mirror, and I think the fork is just a tiny bit bent. As for money I have none lol. I was laid off over a month ago. Went on an interview and I think i start a new job august 11th so end of august beginning of october i would like to put 500-1000 bucks into it and get it real nice.
I'm in Pompano Beach off Atlantic blvd and turnpike if you ever want to come hangout You're more than welcome buddy!

OMG that sounds like the most dumb and unneccasary crash ever, first off all don't ride a bike under the influence and rushing things never work out...
for example i dropped my bike twice in a row trying to get it in my garden but theres a F*cking bump in the entrance and when you hit it at an angle the bike doesnt like it.... then did it again... why ? because i was almost going to poop my full race suit (hint hint)

Belly pan - there are few different kinds around if you search
That particular VTR looks like Sebs from the t'up north in the UK and please don't do the wonky tank 'honda wing' graphics like poor ol' Seb had done.
