98' rim colors???

I have a 98' Italian red SH with gold rims. I was told by a buddy of mine that this was a rare option for the SH in 98'. Is this true or not. I have seen many other Hawks out here in Seattle but none that have the same color rims which makes me think my buddy is correct. Just want to get my facts straight cause I get a lot of compliments on my rims. All help is appreciated. Thanks!

Philip

P.S. I am the second owner. Didnt think to ask about the rims when i bought the bike due to it being my dream bike and the price and condition of the bike are in very good condition...

Never heard of such a thing...I'm going to say they were just swapped off a later model, or were painted or powdercoated at some point. I've also seen auto & bike dealers offer mildly customized new cars/bikes for sale.

So you are saying that it could have been a dealer option that was put on then????I have a 94 Honda accord with fog lights and that was a dealer option cause the did not come with fogs from the factory. Weird....Mykes me feel special now...LOL!!!

Just guessing. I've been in Riva by me for instance and they sell brand new cbr's and r1's with custom paint/graphics (at a 50% markup on msrp LOL yeah ok...). I'm going to guess that they were just swapped or painted prior to your owning it. It's ok though you're still special

i have a red 1998 - i think black wheels for red or yellow bikes for that year.
... dont polish the lip... let your gold do all the bling work! lol

'98's only came in red with black (or dark gray if you believe Honda) wheels.

Well, they are the wrong color to be from a 2004. I'd say they were painted/powder coated at some point but it's definitely not a factory option. Have a dealer run the VIN and see which dealership it originated from, then give them a call and see if they ever did that as an option.

I would've said leave them all gold, but I saw an sv1000 the other day on youtube that had gold spokes and polished rims and they looked awesome.

Here I found the link...
