2 Bros pipes don't line up-diff brackets-pic

Go to my latest thread further down....rode a different SH after all

Looking at a used SH, 2 bros pipes don't line up.....guy said he bought the 2nd pipe separately after one went bad so different brackets.

Anyone have an idea on how to fix this? Is there a way to order a separate bracket. It looks goofy the way it is.

loosen your pipe at the header and at the can. play with it a little bit moving (twisting?) the downpipe and the can and you should be able to adjust it some. my cans werent lining up so i did that and it fixed my issue.

Looks to me like those are two different cans as well. I agree it looks stupid. Whatever the guy wants - I'd knock off $500 for a new set.

See the rubber lined retainer that actually holds the can. Loosen everything up and slide the ring up and down on the exhaust until they line up. I've seen this before when people who aren't very bright try and install them.

Actually I think the yellow with red looks cool, but BarryG ask the seller to send you pictures of the pipes from behind, left and right. This will tell you whether or not the pipes are the same.

Good luck!

different hawk

Well this guy wasn't around today but another guy selling his SH was.
I checked it out '99 10K miles.

The bad:
Very custom paint job....like a violet and it sparkled like crazy in the light. High quality job but looked like it was made or like a rapper chick......I guess I could live with it.

Seat was re-upholsered in a silvery color.....uh....not my style either.....and had some engrained dirt in it...

Chain was pretty dry and very dirty......but other than that the bike was clean and in good shape.

The good:
Racetech valves and springs...and sprung for my weight. Front end was a little stiff but great around turns.

Helibars-still leaned over like my former CBR1100XXX with helis....still a bit of as stretch to the bars but not awful.... but I don't do much real long distance riding anyway.

Rectifer-more powerful...installed from a Sabre.
Erion pipes-not on the bike though.
double buble-windscreen

I'd never ridden a SH before. It felt good. GREAT engine....great power and torque. Shifted smooth. Bike does vibrate a little...especially near my crotch....haha. My only concern is whether this bike will tire me out after an hour or 2.....it's feels more like a Hooligan bike.....but for sooooo much less $$ than the F800ST Beemer I like...it's hard to ignore this bike.

He was askign 4800 w/out the pipes but said he'd do 4500 with the Erion pipes on the bike. I think that's a pretty good deal given all I'd really need to do is get maybe a different seat for starters. I offered 4000...said no. I told him I'd think about it......but that glitter dark rose paint.....man it's like a Liberace SuperHawk!

I agree...$4K with everything I thought would be a good price....4500 not too bad either considering the front end and pipes and helis..etc

There was never a black seat on the lavender/sparkly SH. This bike was actually in pretty nice condition besides the nice and dirty chain.
I'd put a Corbin on it anyway.

I think the guy's trying to get his money back from the custom paint job. IMO, custom paint does nothing but lower the value of a bike, particularly because custom paint is generally custom to that owner and not necessarily another owner. It also indicates that the bike was dropped at some point in its life. Not too many folks repaint a bike just for the bling factor. The seller needs to understand that, and then needs to work with his asking price.

Oh, and go for the Sargent seat, not the Corbin. Plenty of threads on the subject right here at your fingertips.

Well he claims it was never down. But I fully agree about the paint job and believe me I let him know that the paint job was was a total negative to me.....and was holding me back.

So what do you think a fair price is for it? 10K mi, '99...shifted and rode nice. Racetech springs, cartridges upfront (saw the receipts and can feel the difference), helibars, double bubble screen, bigger rectifier, Erion slip-ons, frame sliders...needs an oil change and a rear tire in about 1k mi or so.
He said he'd take $4500 for it with all listed above.........I thought $4k was closer....and he said no....I said well if you change your mind, let me know. Personally the pipes and racetech front end is something I'd want anyway. I think $4k is a decent offer.....thoughts?

Thx,

I'd walk up to him with $3800 in cash, wave 3700 of it in front of him and see if he bites.

If the paint really is done well then there may be someone on the forum who would trade straight up.

I told him I had $4000 in cash in my pocket (and I did).....and would hand it over right that minute.....he didn't want to do it. I have a feeling that bike is going nowhere....I'm around the 3rd person who's seen it.

I may re-offer it via email in a week.....who knows.
