Unbelievable! Pen and wood you've pretty much got it. 3.09 today on my way to drop off the kids at school.

Ds you've got to get up there, it is completly addictive, I know what you mean about the time constrants though. Living so close to it, you've got to go, half of my problem is it takes 6 hours to get there!
If you can somehow get a monday off it's the cheapest and least crowded although right now in the summer it ussually doesn't get too crowded. As far as down here, we have Moroso,(good for 1/4 mile not so good road course), but it isn't as rider freindly. There's a turn there that if you don't make it you and your bike end up in a lake! Plus there are cement patches and painted lines that can become slick. The reason I like jennings so much is there is plenty of run off. If you make a mistake you keep it straight and ease off the throttle and your fine. No bails or walls to smack into and the people are all really nice, at least the ones I've met. Other then that 90% of the roads down here are like a carpenters dream, flat and straight.

Right! They say it'll reach about 4.50 before it goes down again to about 2.50 in six months to a year!

I look back at every shock and scare I can recall. There is ALWAYS an initial period of over reaction. That's where we are at now and maybe for the next week. Then reality will set in.

SPR has been tapped and environmental standards have been temporarily suspended. In themselves, that will do very little. But always in periods of hysteria, it is the perception rather than reality that drives markets. If the perception changes from shock and fear to one that things will be uncomfortable, but managable the ship will right itself.

The oil companies like you. The price goes up 50 cents and drops 5 cents and you are happy.

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

OK, I didn't want to post to this thread as I didn't want to **** off the rest of you. I filled up yesterday afternoon at $2.49/regular. :P

But.......... I just saw that this morning we had jumped on the bandwagon and are now up to $2.99/regular. We have six or seven gasoline refineries here.

Please remember to check the 1/2 and 3/4 profit reports of these oil companies when they come out.

Oh yeah, it took $70.00 to fill the dodge pickup this morning and it's just a 1500!!

Hope for your sake you're right ! In the UK the prices are going up from extortionate price to absolutely criminal prices !
Our prices never come back down either ! The sh*ts gonna hit the fan here soon, as most of the price we pay is in tax !

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

$3.19/gallon for regular gas here in St Louis, MO. The funny part is most gas stations a few days ago didn't even have regular only mid grade and premium. It cost me $11.23 to fill my tank the other day and the gas light hadn't come on yet.

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

My wife and I own 6 vehicles, 3 bikes and 3 cars:

1999 Pontiac Firehawk....19mpg
2000 BMW Z3 Roadster...29mpg
2001 Kawi Ninja 250R.....75mpg
2005 Honda Superhawk...42mpg
2005 Honad CBR F4i.......52mpg

All of these vehicles' gas milage quality has gone down by 20% in the last 2 weeks despite using 91 octane for each as usual. We pay $3.11/gal here in Thornton, CO right now for 91 octane. I switched to OEM suggested 87 octane for the S'Hawk this week due to sanity and the 20-cents difference here.

I suspect gas quality has been affected without our knowing.

Being in the USAF I know our oil is definitely NOT coming from the middle-east whatsoever. That oil is going to Russia, China, and parts of Europe. We're generally getting our oil from parts of South America (to still include Venuzualia about 70%), Canada, Alaska and Texas (about 10%) and other international off-shore sources. I'm annoyed that the media might suggest that, "Oooo, there's trouble brewing here or there so we have no oil!" Bolderdash!

Gas generally runs about $0.50 a gallon and is taxed about $1.00 (in the normal days). If a barrel of oil went up in cost from $50 to $75 then that would mean that the gas -should- cost only $0.25 more (plus appropriate taxes of about maybe 5 cents). Therefore the cost of oil is not the problem, it's the cost of the applied TAXES or the over-charging of local gas stations for no reason.

Texas oil companies have capped-off their pumps and aren't using them. There's no shortage. None. Why is Penzoil and Mobil 1 still the same price? Sure there's extra lying around but shouldn't it go up a ton real soon? Jiffy Lube charges the same still... I smell a conspiracy with congress.

Is this to stimulate the economy? Certainly disel gas will affect costs of ALL things in time as they're transported, ie. food, clothes, etc. by a large margain! Airline costs must skyrocket as well, no?

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

Please let me know where your getting gas under 3 dollars..... (Joke)

NYC.... 3.39 (best price) for regular.... upwards of 3.70 and higher for super..... First time I've spent over 10 dollars to fill my Hawk up....

I can't believe it's actually cheaper to see a crappy movie (8.50 a ticket) for an hour and a half, than drive my bike for the same period of time!!!!!

Just a quick note, (because of people like me bitching), the state of Florida has decided to investigate the price of gas. They are going from station to station, checking thier price now what it was a week ago and a week before that, etc... Then they check what they paid for gas and where the money is going. So I would take our example and make a stink maybe, "we the people" can make a difference.

That should be done on a national level. Problem is there is alot of money being made so certain people in influential positions are making big bucks too and look the other way.

Seems wrong with all the refineries in our back yard. . .Even if I go to the Tesoro station that's attached to the Tesoro refinery the price is the same.

Paid 3.49 for 93 octane last night here in Buffalo, NY... you don't want to know what my 2005 Chevy Avalanche 1500 Z71 costs to fill up these days with cheaper 87 octane (I don't let it go below a half tank) - needless to say the SH has been getting a lot of use these days!

It might be doing something, I paid $2.85 for the first time in months today! Not where it should be yet but it's a start and most are still over or very close to 3.00.

Our gas is still about 40¢/gal higher here compared to the day before Katrina but I find it interesting that in the markets both the prices of gasoline futures and crude oil futures has dropped to just about 'before Katrina' levels. (8/29)

gasoline:

crude oil:

You don't think gas station operators are taking advantage of us consumers do you . . ....??
