$2.70 for regular gas! Is anyone else paying this? I'm not talking about the only gas station on PCH in between Monterey And San Luis Obispo. This is at almost every gas station in the surrounding area. Just curious, soon we'll be catching up to our European friends.

HaHa. Just got back from Georgia. In SC on the way down it was $2.19 and on the way back it was $2.35 to $2.49 and I'm thinking WTF!

Back in PA now and the cheapest I found is $2.55. Guess I'll be riding the ENTIRE winter this year.

Also heard a Federal Judge won't let the government renew or sell new offshore leases until DEP does an even more extensive survey of nature than they do now. Is it no wonder we have supply problems?

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

$2.70 but for ONE gallon!

Bring me this price and I will be very happy to pay this! Here, in Montreal the price is now 1.15$ per LITER!

And as you must know; 1 gallon = 3.78 liters. So that means we pay our gallon 4.34$ CDN or 3.62$ US !!!

And this is the price for the "ordinary" I don't even talk about the "super"

Gas prices are going higher and higher.....and Friday the wife, stepson and I are headed on a road trip

I retire from the Navy in Nov and decided we need to see Calif. while we are here. The Redwood forest, Lave beds, ghost towns, Alcatraz, and HY 101.......12 days of sight seeing......and high gas prices! LOL

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

At that price Icebud you should cross the border, besides your country isn't sacrificing young people for low gas prices. Sorry if that comment offended anyone, I support the trops just not the cause.

Vtrfish if you get the chance go down to Pismo and ride the dunes. You can rent ATV's for the whole family, if they're not that experienced they can just stay on the dune highway. It runs through the dunes and is still pretty fun my wife had a blast and she's never been on one before. It's only a couple of bucks to get on the dunes and you can play all day, even camp out.

Definitely Take a ride on the pacific coast highway that is one twisty fun road. But make sure you fuel up before going on pch, I found out the hard way there are portions where you can't get off and there's only one or two gas stations for about 80 miles. When I was there in 1999 I paid over four dollars a gallon for regular!!

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

Just think, in a few months we'll be looking at prices that make the current $2.60 look good ...... next year I may just pull one plug on the Hawk and stick a rag in the carb to see how it runs as a thumper...

I'm riding the bike to work because I save $30 to $40 a week in gas when compared to the truck. Only downside is that the stinkin slab is eating rear tires.

Yeah, I would do the same, anyone here ever moded a couple of baby seats to your SH?! My other daily vehicle is a dodge quadcab pickup and it takes just about $60 bucks to fill it and after taking the kids to school, going to school myself and then work it doesn't last very long.

They make one with pedals already and I agree it might be better but I'm not sure I'm ready for that!!! Oh and we're up to 2.74 in places now but I saw one place that had it for 2.59 WOW!! Is it pathetic I'm happy about paying 2.59? They can take my gas from my cold dead hands!

Wow. All I can say is Wow!

This a.m. on the way in to work gas was 2.55. This afternoon I had to travel to another office and it was 2.79. I came back and had to go to that same office again.

Same station less than 2 hours later was 2.99. F#$%ers! You can't tell me that they aren't gouging. I sure hope my bike is full already. I had to drive so far this week because of rain.

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

Learn what most of us already have, you don't need 91 unless you've done engine work. I just switched about a month or so ago when prices started to climb, I always used 91 or above, I used to look for 93 mostly, but not any more!!

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

With the damage in the gulf from Katrina, I think we'll all see the $3.00 mark sooner than later.

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

Holy Cow,
In Tennessee today we now have a shortage, no joke. gas went up 20¢ over night (reg $3.00 - Prem $3.20)
and about 25% of the stations are out of gas in my area, the rest have 10 to 20 cars waiting to pull up to the pumps...

Now the question is - when will we see $4.00 ...??????

ps: (2 days post Katrina)

pps: I miss the good ole days when gas was $2.70

Re: $2.70 Are you kidding me!

Funny thing is we didn't get anything but a little rain here at the Eastern tip of TN, 650 mi from New Orleans .... Our gas comes our way via pipe line from the refineries in the Gulf to a distribution point 100 mi west of here, then via truck.....

I think I'll go check the air in my bicycle tires.....

Hey dsbunton646, do you ever go to Jennings gp? I've taken my hawk up there four times, love it, where elese can you go 130 and drag knees for just over $100 almost every other weekend. I think we are going to be moving to your area in a year or so, somewhere in the Gainsville area.

Woodman, I agree that lobbying is a problem although I don't agree with the premise of the article that the business lobby is the only evil one.

It's more like the "tragedy of the commons". Every group has lobbyied for their own little piece and what has happened is that collectively they have picked the corpse clean. Any one of them by themself is not a substancial issue, but when added together they are like a school of pirranas.
