What Duc would you rent?

Well, for christmas I was given a full day on one of the Duc's on this web site: Motorcycle Rentals - Rent Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, MV Agusta, Triumph
I am thinking either a 848 Evo Corse, 848 street fighter, or the 1198 panigale. Anyone out there with previous experiance in the saddle let me know please. I am also thinking of the 796 Hypermotard. I am using this as a test ride, unless I hear that the 1000 sport classic is in a reasonable price range. Thanks!

If it's a test ride, ride what you want to buy. Which for me would be the hypermotard

Take your pick, lol Multistrada 1200, either Streetfighter, the Monster 1100, the Hypermotard and, of course, the Panigale, not a bad one in the bunch. If you are thinking of buying, however, best to heed 7`s advice.....

Enjoy and report back

Actually, in terms of buying, I'm myself much more interested in the 848 Evo, but the streetfighter is nice... The big Duc to me is something I'd only enjoy really on a track... It really, really begs to be flogged...

The Streetfighter is a great all around bike, except for the lack of wind protection at speed...23K miles plus on my 2010 F1098 as of this writing.

If you plan on having kids, forget the 1199 Pani as the exhaust header under the seat will cook your sperm...

Hyper 1100 Evo SP is great for super twisty roads.

Not that it matters to me cause I am old and gray, but for those considering a Vasectomy, the above may provide a much more enjoyable experience......with the same result..... albeit at a slightly higher hit to the pocket book. Just sayin'. Carry on.

I rode one of those 1100 Hypermotards...most overpriced piece of **** ever if you ask me...I'd much rather have an 848 or street fighter, or pretty much anything else they make.

For just a day....take the 1199. Have NO regrets. Aren't you curious of Ducati's be[a]st machine?

I sat on one a few years ago, It was a 1100cc V twin dirt bike, Total hooligan bike, like the fighter, just minimal body work. At this point, its how many tickets do I want to get, for out right speed or wheelies.

I hear you on that, that is why I am having a difficult time deciding. After I get the ol' ladys car paid off I am going to get one and track it after its broken in and I get comfortable on it thats why I am concidering the 1199. But that Corse had my attention.

Not too worried about the lack of wind protection, had a 599 before this bike and put 32k on it in 9 months.
Dont mind the boiled sperm thing, not aiming for kids.
That fighter has gotta be a blast. Im sure its in a class of its own but is there anything you would change or had to change to make it better?

Dont worry, I'm thinking the same thing you are... But it might be like driving your dream car, hyping it up for years then you get to drive it and its the biggest disapointment (countach). But who am I kidding?

I would go with the multistrada. Super refined and just won pikes peak. I figure the panigale would last 10 miles before you were too sore to enjoy it. Multi all day.

I hear ya on that! Not quite my style... you know the style of sensability and rational thinking . If its for one day and I return it only to hop back on the Hawk for the ride home and I am happy, then I guess I just saved my self 10-20k that I can put toward parts for the bike and fishing gear!

Oh trust me... I have ridden the big Duc for a couple of blocks, and around a couple of bends... You're not going to get disapointed... You are going to get a big case of "wanna, wanna, wanna!" though... And that's probably worse...

I dont doubt that one bit. I can see it now. There is a Duc dealership about 1 mile away from this rental place, will probably ride from the rental place at the end of the day right into the parking lot and sign some papers and be broke for the next 3-4 years.

Well... You could just go to the rentals, and get the money back... And then go to the dealers... I'll save you about a day of being broke...

My boss has one and from what I can tell it's a ridiculously fun machine... I've never not seen him wheelie when he pulls away on rides.

Haven't ridden it myself or paid for it, though, so I can't speak for the "overpriced piece of ****", but when I look at it parked it seems pretty solid.

With some kind of wind protection, yes! Otherwise you going to struggle holding on to the bar on highway speed, also similar to V-Max but lighter and totally different feel to the motor.

They do but I am biased. It hurts me at times but I get over it (lol). I am going to have to stick with Ducati on this one, even though they may have the triumph Speed Trip by august as well.

I have heard good things about it. At a dealership near where I live a sales woman tried everything to get me to sign the papers. I see the logic behind the bike but is looks are something only its creator could love, IMO. No disrespect toward you by any means.

Haha, I couldn't agree more... it doesn't look like it wants a rider on it to me... take the handle bars and seat off and it's a perfectly proportioned motorcycle droid...

Comfort wasn't an issue, I went on a ride through Palomar mountain with it, that's about it...never took it on the freeway or around a city.

Shitty fuel map, no power, no top end, it's like riding a Ducati Monster (also an overpriced pile of s***) that someone put a ride height increase kit on.

Also if you're any shorter than I am, (5'10 and change) it's going to be pretty difficult to get on and off.

If the bike was 5g, cheap air cooled fun, but it isn't...it's north of 10, maybe even 15 depending on options and such...no thanks.
