I think it might have been pure speculation by the press in Europe but does have some merit. It's based on the FMX 650 that is sold in Europe and the image looks to be a photoshop menagerie of three bikes. Still FMX996 MotoHawk has a certain ring to it!

I really like that Hypermotard, but I saw the preproduction bike at the Cycle World motorcycle show this winter and the thing's just not tall enough. I realize it's not a true supermoto, but at my height (6'3"), a dirt bikeish 35-36" seat height would be nice. It looks to me like it's a supermoto in the same vein as the Buell Super TT.

Looks like a lot of fun...until you filter through traffic. Even with the fold-in mirrors those handlebars and guards look a half-mile wide. I predict aftermarket items post haste.
