Ran the 78 cb400 at the strip tonight
Raced my bros cb400 at Gateway Raceway in stl tonight. haha, it was kinda funny, slowest bike by far there. Raced that cause the stupid clutch problem on my VTR has gotten significantly worse since i raced it last year. Still fun though. 16.048-16.112 was what my 6 races ranged from. Got it to break the highway speed limit by 20 on the way back (85), haha. That thing is a BEAST

haha, yeah, i told him he could ride my superhawk around for the afternoon that i raced his bike, so who could pass up that offer like that . Haha, but ive been looking around a few websites, and it seems like 16.04 was actually pretty quick for that bike cause ive been seeing a bunch of 400s in like the 17s and 18s. I do got to admit I am pretty good at drag racing though 8) haha.

Re: Ran the 78 cb400 at the strip tonight
well, ive posted a few times about the problem and no one seems to have an answer. I don't know if youve ever tried to do a REALLY hard launch on the SH, but while trying to slip the clutch under a lot of throttle it gets all weird and engages and disengages really fast, almost like youd just droped the clutch. Ive heard of people complaining of this problem in a couple of reviews, but still, no one seems to have a solution. And yeah, ive probably made it worse by draging it some. I used to be able to slip it if i just kept it under 2500 rpms (which is still pretty bad), now it wount slip anywhere (under a lot of throttle ofcoarse, it does just fine in town when the goal isn't to get off the line as fast as possible). If it weren't for that problem, im sure i could get it into the 10s, but when it wasn't AS horrible last year all it would do was 11.3s, now because it has gotten so bad its just pointless becasue i would look as stupid as my friend running 11.9s on his tl1000s (but he just sux, haha).

I don't know what you mean. The clutch lever seems to pull just fine. When im trying to slip it and it ingages all of a sudden, i can feel the clutch lever go in, like it pulls in when it happens. I don't think it is so much as something being broken but just a defect in the bike, cause like i said, i read reviews on this bike where they complain of this. But if you have a suggestion as to how i might fix it, it would be greatly appreciated. I really want to show up my bud on his TL on my suposedly "slower bike." haha, thanks for the input.

Could it be that your plates are just about fried? Maybe try a different oil (more or less slippery depending on what you're running now)?
Dragging a VTR or a TLS has got to be incredibly difficult anyway given the short wheelbase and wheelie happy nature they both have. Did ya'll see that Ricky Gadsen got two stock motor 600's (one tooth lower front and lowered) into the 9's. WOW!!

yeah, ive heard some things about the hydrolic clutch being a factor in this problem but that dosen't really make sense to me why that is. Yeah, there is a chance i could have friend my clutch, but it only has 14 thou on it, and when i bought it at 5 and raced it then, the problem was there, just not as bad. Yeah, these bike aren't the easiest to get to there fullest potential at the drag strip. My bud on his tl1000s can't keep the wheel down at all and ran into the 12s a couple times cause he can't figure out how to ride right.
