I'm working on a custom home in San Diego where the owner had a secret bookcase that opens up. Heavy friggen case with a large closet behind it. Never knew it was there until the contractor showed me.

I want to get a hold of the hardware used, or the plans on how to fab something like that up!

What would you have in the secret room, though. I really can't think of anything practical...

Well, you could make the room a vault for collections and valuables, make an office out of it, or just have the door for novelty reasons...

safety, if someone brakes in to the house in the middle of the night, you can hide somewhere on the second floor.
Is also would be cool to have a master bedroom walk in closet hidden.

two words: BAT CAVE!

I would have racks of various weapons, vehicles, ammo, and even if I have to make it myself, it will have an exit for vehicles thru a waterfall.

Yeah that's the problem, you would have to do it yourself or someone would know!

Or your dumbass kid could spill the beans.
I had a high school friend that showed everyone at a party his dads secret gunroom, two weeks later someone broke in while they were gone and stole about 40 guns.

Smile

Once looked at a house with a genuine 60s style bomb shelter. Really well done, sturdy door/walls, filtered ventilation, cots, water tank, lots of storage. Cramped, nowhere near enough room for a shop, no windows of course. I couldn't figure out what I'd possibly want to do or store there that I wouldn't rather use the garage or another room for instead.

Would have been a cool conversation piece, but had no real value to me.
