New guy from miane need mods help.

Hey guys Im new to the super hawk and and to honda really. I've never been a honda fan so bare with me, but my best friend had a 98 super hawk and he died of a heart attack in august. As soon as his bike is released from probate I will be buying it.

He had asked me to do some serious mods for him both performance and cosmetic and I plan to do all these mods so I figured this would be the best place to start looking.

first off I need to find cams, bigbore kit (if available), crank, heads, it has exhaust (carbon fiber I cant think of the name right now), will need suspension, sprockets and chain, and everything else really.

My friend wanted to build a Drag and Show bike that he could ride to the track and look damn good doing it so thats what I plan to build.

Looking for all help I can find and the very best parts to build the best VTR around. Thanks for any help.

sorry about your friend, I don't have any info for you, but this is a good place to start looking since most of the engine performance parts are no longer being made or are hard to find. I wish you the best with your memorial build.

Some parts can still be found but with every passing day, they are becoming harder and harder to find. May I suggest eBay for starters. Dependig on how much you want to spend, Revolution Racing in the UK still has, or can get, a good number of Moriwaki bits for the VTR.

Good luck

As far as cams go Hpower in australia has Moriwaki Stg 1 cams still as well as pistons and oversized valves.
Suspension bits are race tech gold valves or have one of the members revalve them for you. Then check out a new rear shock like an ohlins unit or check out what Jamie Daughtry is doing with F4 shocks and an adaptor.
There is not a big bore kit available for it.
What part of Maine are you from? I grew up there in Stillwater. My best friend is a mechanic he worked for Friend and Friend in Elsworth for like 12 years, now he takes small jobs from his house. PM me for his info.

I live in waterville now but i grew up in lowell, burlington near lincoln.
I've been to friend and friend many times but not in a few years.

I was thinking i would hit up race tech for the suspension anyway I run there gold valves in my triumph. I can do all the work myself no problem i've done quiet a few.

i've been to the Hpower site it does seem to be one of the only ones I am finding. If anyone else has any info please let me know.

If you want oversized valves there may be 1 Morwi set left...check with Roger:

Good luck with your build and sorry to hear about your friend.
For suspension, we are switching whole front ends, see other threads.
As for engines, nothing too as major as big bores kits, but I think they are useless for us since it will lower the RPM limit from the huge pistons.
The easy way could be nitrous, hard way turbo or supercharger, ask me how I know lol

You already got some of the real pros answering in this thread: (Mikstr for engine internals, Gbezio for electronics and turboing cornandp for fabrication etc)

My input would be: JDM F4i based shock and either a fork swap, or a Hawkrider respring and revalve plus some kind of brake upgrade. (depending on if you do a fork swap or not would affect what you choose here)

Can I add a suggestion? A RC51 swingarm...

And do a fork swap... If you seriously want to improve on performance, by the list of other parts, you aren't going cheap, so why skimp on the things that matter? Suspension and binders first, engine last... That's how I build things... But I may be an oddball...

Thanks a lot for all the help guys. Keep it coming!

Is an RC51 swingarm a direct replacement or does it have to be modified to fit the SH?

With a few pre-requisites it can be made a direct bolt on...

One, being on your list already as a new rear shock... It really needs to be height adjustable to make it all work...

Two, it needs to be 2003-2006 RC51 or SP2...

Then there are two routes, modify it by cutting/welding on the swingarm... Or make a new lower link to bolt up (takes some machining) and keep the swingarm unmodified... Needs a few other parts through, like new rim...

What is the difference between these swingarms? Why switch to the RC51?

And forgive me for asking but I am completely new to Honda and can't think of what and SP2 is?

Thanks for the link ranchomice.

There is two RC-51, the SP1 and SP2, the VTR chassis is made of rags knotted together, putting a stiffer swingarm, forks, frok braces and weld plates over the hollow castings while the engine is out stiffens the hell out of it.

The earlier RC51's are denoted SP1 and that swing arm is a bit different, can be made to work but more complex (25mm axle) and less good looking...
The later 2003-2006 was denoted SP2... That's the one you are looking for... It has a 20 mm axle like the VTR, so it makes it a lot easier...

You can have a look at my adventures here... https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...light=swingarm

SP1 denotes 2000-2001 version, SP2 is 2002 and later...
