My wife got a new bike!

New 2012 GSX-R750, the blue and white one. I don't know how to post pics, and even if I did, if you don't know what a Gixxer 750 looks like, you need to get out more.

She wanted an upgrade from her '07 SV650S (she has 42,573 miles on it, mostly canyon rides), and this was the only bike we considered that fit her 5'4" height. Too long a reach to the bars on the 848, and the bars on the Triumph 675 Daytona are too low. The MV Agusta F3 was another option (beautiful bike), but reviews call it mostly a track bike and it has way too much electronics.

So, the 750 Gixxer it is. It has a comfortable riding position for either of us, it handles great, and the low end and midrange is decent. Not the punch of the Superhawk on the low end, but the midrange is very respectable. And way better brakes (Brembo monoblock) and suspension than the SV.

I spent some time last night removing the various warning decals and the passenger pegs. We have a rear seat cowl and a fender eliminator ordered.

I'll bet you'll both miss the SV. That little bike that could was so effortless. But I digress, all good things must come to an end. Gixxers are so cookie cutter. I can't imagine even considering one. Never for me, but for the better half...anything. Well almost anything, H.D. is off limits LOL. My wife wants a Duc Monster!

And wait a minute. 3,857 posts and you can't do pictures? We'll let it slide this time (because no one wants to see another gixxer right)?

Congrats to the wife!

Actually, the GSXR 750 is the only GSXR I would even consider riding... While the 1000 & 600 really are a cookie cutter bikes, every squid has one, the 750 is and always have been the odd one out... I'm actually surprised not more manufacturers have done the same and made a potent 750, it's pretty much perfect sized...

Gratz to the wife... And tell her to tell you to keep yet mits of it... You have two other bikes to ride as she plays with her new toy...

missed opportunities

I think you just lost your chance to get that Tuono V4. I'm sure the ergos would have been perfect for the wife. She may not have found it in the garage very often, but the ergos would have been perfect.

Great buy for your wife. The 750 is awesome machine. I've owned both the 600 & 1000, the 600 was 2001 model and the 1000 was 2007 model. Suzuki makes really reliable bikes, but I guess you already know that. The weakest point on GSXR's range has always been the brakes, which Suzuki has now fixed some what with the Brembo calipers.
I think the GSXR750 is the perfect alround sportsbike at the moment. A good friend of mine has installed a set of superbike bars on his 2008 model and he really rails on that thing.
Man! sounds like your wife is a keeper huh?
